not to turn this into coder's chat but I personally think more lines is sometimes better, some of our devs try to fit incredibly complex loops into a single lambda expression and while yeah it does work it's also impossible to debug. verbose code is at least easy to fix

yeah Twitter's actual valuation/influence is pretty hard to gauge. like 75% of the people I know use Facebook but I can only name like....3 people who actively use Twitter. but it does have a lot of utility as a news source and a way for celebs/politicians/government bodies to make wide-reaching announcements. I mean random Trump tweets were legitimate news stories on CNN for days at a time, you don't see that kind of poo poo with FB or IG posts. which makes it even funnier that Elon's first big idea is to get rid of verification

when Lia Thomas won that NCAA swimming thing I remember some article claiming that even with her win statistically trans women were still not doing all that well overall in sports, and that if they were totally on par with cis women athletes you'd expect them to win a bit more. wonder where the "sorry libs but science is science" crowd is on that one

I work for an insurance company and it was funny seeing the auto symbols for Teslas rise so quickly once it became apparent that even small fender benders could total out the entire car. iirc it wasn't even stuff like this it was "oh there was a really important electronic component in that spot and it actually can't be replaced" lmao

still bothered by Elon's use of "namespace" in that above screenshot, like anyone who's done any programming knows "namespace" is an actual term that means something. comp sci poo poo is the one thing this guy's supposed to be good at but all the evidence points to him being a huge dumbass there as well. like when he first bought Twitter and said poo poo like "oh this is easy to fix, we just need to rebuild the full stack".....ooooh sounds very smart unless you're familiar at all with what he's trying to say. people love to give him the benefit of the doubt because he's awkward and dorky, they think he's like Sheldon from Bing Bang Theory, but take it from someone who played Magic the Gathering for 15 years: those people can be absolute morons as well. sometimes they have emerald mines and government contracts though
