This smelled suspicious to me (these pictures of two posing and smiling fans were taken by the sister after they fled and as they tried to take away her phone?), but it appears the woman pictured did try and take away someone's phone:

wait are there actually people who think the Girard hit was illegal or cheap?
I think it was illegal, but I'd actually call boarding and charging per the book instead of the made up three strides, leaving the feet, consult the 8-ball etc. standards the refs use. People mentioned "Girard pretty clearly put himself in a terrible position and didn't protect himself at all" and "someone putting themselves in a dangerous position" -- and that's exactly what makes it illegal, it was a check to a defenseless opponent that caused them to impact the boards violently or dangerously.

That being said, I'm fine with it. It's fun to watch guys get blowed up, refs can't just arbitrarily decide they're going to enforce certain rules by the book in the playoffs, and it's good to injure your opponent's players, especially if you can avoid being penalized for it.

I'm pretty sure that Craig Ludwig and Derian Hatcher actually lived at the various strip clubs back in their days in Dallas. They would play a game in the playoffs then get on a plane to fly to mexico to take in a Pantera concert and party with the band.
Douglas Murray was infamous for renting a limo during breaks between games to take him to San Francisco where he'd drink, dance, and party for days on end and return to practice none worse for the wear.

Veteran strategy by Brunette. Tale as old as sport, get the boys to hit the club the night before a big game, get sauced and cheat on their wives and get ‘em playing guilty for game 4.

Goals are cool and replay reviews mainly serve to take them away, so I'd do away with most of it and just live with the odd lovely call. I think replay is justified to review a puck over the goal line (because there's often a mass of players obstructing the refs view and the goal cams might clearly show whether a goal was scored or not) and puck in the netting (because players freeze in that situation and it fucks up the flow of the game, potentially causing a fluky goal, whereas no one plays any differently if a guy is 1/4" offside). Other than that, just let Timo chuck the puck to a teammate every once in a while and live with the outcome.
