No nuclear war wouldn't do dick for climate change in the short term. If anything burning basically everything will make it worse and once the dimming from all the poo poo we pump into the atmosphere goes away temperatures will spike really quickly.

Nuclear winter isn't a thing. Most nukes don't make a big enough boom to put particulates high into the atmosphere to cause the effect.

Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

I think anyone wondering how global nuclear war would actually affect our world should read this. This was a write up by a bunch of scientists and, quite frankly, once reading it I’ve never forgotten it. Especially the parts about wildfire storms continuously ravaging the US “dustbowl” region leaving little ability to grow enough crops to feed our nation for at least a decade, and literally bombing ourselves back into the stone age for some reasons I never considered.

Take the advice, if the bombs fall just go up on the nearest roof and watch.

There was already a nuclear war on the planet Earth, it was just directed at space, the air, the ground and (primarily) the ocean as dickwaving and capabilities testing

Agree 100% but wear SPF 10,000 and the kinds of metal foil shades you use for watching eclipses unless you've got Gumold Drumf type manly and burnout resistant eyeball retinas..

In Hiroshima many of the blinded survivors had their eyeballs literally melt from looking directly at the fireball, from the piddly-rear end 16Kt dieselpunk warhead they used there.

It sort of it is, but it's also a Russian psyop.

It covers a lot of Russian talking points and if memory serves it came out just before Russia took Crimea.

It’s funny I really just thought of someone made up some goofy a scenario for a wargame. I didn’t even pay attention to any of the arguments since I figured it was just someone reusing stock footage. lol

I have to give it a rewatch with some more critical eye. Also this wouldn’t of happened if I hadn’t grown up loving JANES flight sim games and the FMV intro’s they had

GiP recommended Arc Light by Eric Harry. God drat what a book. Gripping edge of your seat from cover to cover while clearly exceptionally well researched. I couldn’t put it down. I learned way more than I ever thought I’d want to about how everything works from the president and cabinet to launching our nuclear arsenal to the effects of a nuke on your body at ground zero vs fallout days later to the intricate inner trappings of driving and operating an M1a1 while commanding an armored cav unit right into the heart of Russia. loving insane book. Alas Babylon is ok, The Road is a beautiful nightmare, Book of Revelation is just that, but Arc Light is living through that thing you don’t want to ever live through page by page.

I remember the night mares when consuming this kind of media. I remember noticing how those nightmares stopped in the 90s.

Arc Light sounds like a more detailed version of By Dawns Early Light, a serious version of Dr. Strangelove.

The dumbass radio stations in the New FO games are not only insanely annoying but make zero sense. The games are clearly retrofuturist inspired but why tf would they be listening to 100+ year old music instead of some poo poo from 2077 and before or whatever it was when the nukes dropped.

Just typical dumbass poo poo Bethesda added with zero thought. Fuxking losers. I got a spiral cut ham hanging from a hook cuz I needed something to slam my fists into cuz of how mad this got me

Is this also a good thread to post nuclear weapon adjacent things? What's everyone's favorite nuclear accident? Not a lost source, a criticality event or other big oopsie-doopsie. Mine is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SL-1 because of the incredibly metal way in which one of the operators died.

GWB also got his Bachelor's from Yale and his Master's from Harvard, he definitely didnt think he was "sticking it to the elites," he was downplaying his own eliteness to "stick it" to his voter base (idiots)
