I'd probably have killed myself years ago if I didn't have two cats that depended on me. I guess I'm saying you should get a cat, preferably a rescue animal. It won't necessarily make you much happier but taking care of something/someone else forces you to take care of yourself, and it's definitely more meaningful than doomscrolling or whatever. Unless you have abusive/psychopathic tendencies. Don't get a pet then.
