Some cards have On Reveal abilities to discard cards, like Blade or Lady Sif or Sword Master.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.
So this is pretty fun. 6 rounds, get in, get out. Nice design.

My questions so far: How do I get access to this symbiote battle pass the News tab is talking about? How do I move characters? (some locations have hinted this is an option.) Is there any system to what cards are picked to get upgraded at the end of a match? And I should always do it, right? That's what credits are for?

If you're brand new, you might be in the recruit season. Once you're through that, you'll go into the main season. It's on the 4th button on the bottom bar.

Some locations and characters can move themselves or others.

There's no rhyme or reason to which character gets boosters as far as I can tell. Upgrading is what credits are for, however when you use them is a little less cut and dry. See this post of mine on the previous page:

Go RV! posted:

All* levels of card upgrade are worth the same amount of CL per Credit, so level up whatever cards you think look cool. (*Frame Break is half price)

To level up a card, you need boosters and credits. NEVER BUY FAST UPGRADES FROM THE SHOP, you're going to be hard limited by credits, not boosters. To get boosters, you can either get them from CL/Season rewards, or by playing games with the card in your deck.

You're matched to other players by your Collection Level, so if you feel confident in your deck and want to grind out some ladder levels, you can save up credits to not move further. You have a cap of 5000, hitting it will permanently set back your progress. If you're going to do this, I'd recommend the breakpoints of the end of each pool of cards (CL214 and CL474).

If you want more credits, don't use gold to buy more. Use the gold on mission refreshes, as they'll give you additional season pass progress.

This seems like a good time, and a cool idea of how boosters encourage you to change up your deck to upgrade more cards.

Im still in the newbie season pass, but what's the deal with the normal ones? Are they real money only?

You get a certain amount of it free. A variant or two, some boosters, gold and credits and such.

If you want the new card, its variant art, and a lot more currency, then you've gotta fork over :10bux:

You can give them 5 more to get some free levels but don't do that.

Unrelated, I'm pretty surprised that I'm not seeing more Miles Morales around. A lot of decks run Nightcrawler, or some other movement, and being able to drop 5 power for 1 is really good.

There is an increased chance for your common (grey) and uncommon (green) cards to get the boosters at the end of the game. So if you have a card/variant that you really like and want to split it for cosmetic reasons, you can keep it at uncommon until you have enough boosters to upgrade it the rest of the way.

No, you shouldn't always do it. It's best to keep your CL capped at 214 or 474 for as long as you can, as matchmaking is determined in part by CL and those are the end points for Pool 1 and Pool 2. By staying low you'll be able to level faster against easier opponents. You also don't miss the chance to upgrade the card, as you can always do it from your collection page.

As to how you acquire boosters: at the end of each match you will get one booster for one card in your deck per round played. The selection is mostly random, but weighted in favour of cards that are still grey or green. (The only exception to this, which won't come up for you for a while, is that if Agatha Harkness is in your deck she will always be assigned the boosters.)

Moving characters is a function of certain specific cards. Some cards (Nightcrawler, Vision) can move freely, others (Iron Fist, Heimdall) move other cards, and Cloak gives any card the ability to move. Lastly there's Captain Marvel, who moves at the end of the game if you are losing and she can increase the number of locations you will win. This confuses the hell out of newbies - hardly a day goes by when someone doesn't report a "bug" where Carol didn't move to win that is almost always because of who had priority on turn 6 or because she can't see through Mysterio's illusions.

Here's my day two tier list:

FUN (S Tier):
Vatu (Peak at locations before they are revealed)
Nightcrawler (Move)

NOT FUN (S Tier but the S is for poo poo):
Rocket played opposite Vatu on the far left location turn 1 when Vatu reveals the other locations are going to mulch anything you play there.

I just played this for the past few hours and had a blast, there seems to be multiple viable strategies and as more cards open up, more deck types seem likely to develop.

I am not a big fan of the Rocket style cards, especially the low costs ones as it is really hard to predict your opponent's moves early on. On the other hand, I am loving Doc Strange, I just had a game where I had a huge lead in one square, to the point where my opponent had no reason to try to play cards in it so I had strange warp one of the big cards from that square into his, causing a huge swing for only 3 energy.

Guardians aren't that hard to use early on once you know the game. Specifically, people are more likely to play to revealed locations than to hidden ones. There are some locations that you want to play to before they reveal because they restrict or prevent placement, but there's a lot more that you don't want to play to. Murderworld, Jotunheim, Oscorp Tower and especially The Superflow are obvious offenders, but there are others like Kamar-Taj where you lose an advantage rather than gain a disadvantage by playing there blind.

I finished the newbie season pass and unlocked the proper one, looks like you can only buy it with real money, no chaining with gold like I'd thought.

Also, in the season pass, the first reward is a Miles Morales card, not a variant. It's going to be available in other ways right? Since they've said everything will be F2P accessible

I will say, the quick pace and more involved progression (rather than your levels going up automatically) make it really engaging. I saw that they're looking to implement ways to allow people to target specific cards they want, rather than be on the mercy of RNG, which will be really nice for specific strategies, or for specific heroes.

They also need to make it non-Marvel specific so I can play Blue Beetle and Kamen Rider and have them be Bug Bros :colbert:

Miles will become available through normal collection methods in the first patch of Season 7, which will start in December. This is how it always works: the Season card can be obtained by buying the related Pass, then becomes unavailable to everyone in the next season, then becomes available to F2Ps and latecomers the season after.

I'm glad that variants are so completely inessential, because god drat, someone needs to talk to them about appropriate pricing.

They go for either 700 or 1200 gold each (can't tell by what criteria, a skin is a skin), and $99.99 buys you 8000 gold. These skins are worth either $9 or $15 each, guys? Really?

e: Do some people just not know that retreating is an option? I have gone into turn 6 winning two locations where my opponent can't play cards multiple times and they always just take my snap to the face and then lose. And I'm out of bot tier, so it's not that.

Unless things have changed in the past ~6 weeks or so that I hadn't been playing you're never actually out of bot tier, you just get fewer of them and the ones you do get swing wildly between winning via cheating and doing blatant misplays to give you the win.

As to retreating, no most people aren't accustomed to the Snap metagame and treat it like Hearthstone or Magic. Snap plays a lot like a casino card game ala poker in that you are (Should be) more concerned with your cube bankroll than whether you win any given hand, and against humans the game's real depth is in the snap mechanic.

Snapping/cubes are the underlying genius of the game, it tickles the brain just like real gambling.

I get the appeal of the Snap and the strategy behind it, but what I don't have is a meaningful reason to care if someone Snapped at me. If I'm obviously losing I'll retreat since I can get in the next game faster, but if I think I have a chance who cares? As of now, I see no reason to be concerned with it beyond "number go up".

When you finally get Agatha, be aware that she isn't totally random: she will always play herself if possible. And once she's out of your hand, you regain control of the game. There are Agatha decks that use Lady Sif to discard her and Ghost Rider to bring her back, Wave to make her cost 4 so she gets played earlier, and so on. However, the location Ego that does the same thing is totally random and will override Agatha.

Also if you start with Agatha in your deck she always takes the boosters.
