Goon Coop Campaign in DCS World, a simulation of modern military air combat and some ground and sea combat.

Thread on DCS here if you wanna check out the game itself: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3633891
Air Goons Wiki for our nerdery writing and lots of the concepts and explanations of air combat: https://www.airgoons.com/w/Main_Page
Where we talk and chat about this in Discord: https://discord.gg/6fQMsff

Bottom line up front: Some 25-40 goons will fly a plot-heavy campaign in the Caucasus or Syrian regions as a Mercenary force hired by different Companies, Countries, and Factions with the weekly to bi-weekly mission scheduled at 2000hrs Universal Time on saturdays.

Caucasus Region Map

Syrian Region Map

What game is this?
DCS World is a flight sim with modules, individually purchased planes that simulate various helicopters and fixed wing aircraft of mostly the modern era. The game includes non-flyable AI assets, and tons of ground units of all kinds. Game requires a lot of patience, as these airplanes are started manually with each system modeled, and the nerds that fly them click the buttons in the cockpit to achieve what they need to do. The sim is good enough to be used by real air forces for training for planes, such as US Air National Guard for the A-10, and the French Air Force for the Mirage 2000. Our players will talk on the radio channels with air traffic control and air battle management, and they will use different channels to communicate with their wingmen. Each flight will have its own objectives as part of the package, and the flight leads will write up their plan before game day, and after the game, their after action report. Each days’ game will probably last about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. We’ll stream it both from the perspective of a pilot, and from the air battle manager station’s radar screen.

Does it sound complex? It is! But it’s a lot of fun. We hope to attract the interest of non-plane goons and are more than happy to explain terms and describe what we do. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, and we look forward to sharing nerdery in this thread or the Discord.

How will this Let's Play work
This mercenary campaign will be thread interactive. The thread will vote to choose what missions we are hired from and by whom, you will also vote on which player or flight will get bonuses based on anything cool you think they did.
Players playing in this campaign will be given a $20 mil Fund to start, with this fun they will be buying and maintaining their planes, and/or helicopters. They will all get a cut of the mission pay out, however some will earn more if they use older less efficient weapons like bombs with no guidance, rockets, or gun pods.
If a player loses their plane they get 1 free backup before they have to buy a new airframe. Players will also be able to buy and upgrade to new airframes over time, like if they start with an old Mig-21 they can save up enough to buy themselves one of those brand new F-16's that flies itself.

Background
The year is 2028 and the world governments have fallen apart and weakened, Corporations now wage war on each other and anyone who gets in their way. During this time mercenary corporations have become the main forces in most conflicts.
Enter the 420th Airgoons a group of wannabe pilots who saw their flight sim experience as a way to make a buck.

Mission 1 Operation Goof Troop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlG6tsOytss

420th Airgoons have been hired by two groups for this mission.
The first group is the mega corp everyone loves Disney. Disney has hired us to attack Warner Bros main hacking center based in eastern Europe in retaliation to Warner Bros hacking the US and EU govenments and setting the copyright for Mickey Mouse and Co. as Warner Bros copyright. They are paying us 20 million with a 5 million dollar bonus to rescue a board member who's plane was shot down by Nestle while flying near a Nestle facility.

The second group to hire is the local citizenry who are tired of Nestle destroying towns and villages in order to build more water bottling facilities. they are paying us 10 million to destroy a large armored force that's preparing to move and attack some of the nearby towns as well as a bottling plant.

We will also use Tacview to get realistic track files after the battle to analyze what happened and how we used weapons.

kafkabot mk. II: stronger, faster & more alienated
Finally, I can hardRP my lifelong dream of stealing a Shenyang J-11A (Chinese: 歼-11, NATO reporting name Flanker-L) from the CCCP, so that I can ride the waves of boundless fortune as a merc ace.

The J-11A is the most advanced model of the Russian Su-27 that is playable in DCS. It is the only flanker capable of firing the R77 active radar homing missile, which is deadly at medium range. The ability to lock up enemies in infrared makes it even more deadly to human opponents and AI that can't see you, because they won't get any warning that they are being locked. The AI in DCS started simulating this in a recent update. Consequently, the J-11 is the perfect platform to trench-run a mountain range hidden from the AWACS only to pop up and smoke an unsuspecting capitalist who will have no idea what just happened.

It is part of the Flaming Cliffs series of low-fidelity sims and has several simplified systems in comparison to other available airframes, but it is very capable in terms of air-to-air combat. Flaming Cliffs is a cheap way to put a plane in your hangar for pretty much any mission, but in the case of the J-11, you're going to be competitive with the most advanced f-teen blue jets in the air.

The J-11A is agile to the extreme, I've only torn the wings off of it a few times with G-force but I'm sure going to try to do it again in this campaign. The western spies at Warner Brothers are in trouble.

Our intel division, , Has learned that Nestle's armor will be protected by Rolands and lots of AAA, with Gudata and sukhumi being protected by NASAMS

they have also received intel on enemy air assets at gudata and sukhumi, with some bizarre combinations

we pictures of parked A-4E's Bf-109's, Mig-19's and P-47's

we are also getting reports of Warner Bro's hiring Bombers to attack our base, Make sure to send up some interceptors

Hey guys! I'm having a good time, what about you?

I'm in for the campaign but not available this first weekend, hopefully jumping in for missions after that.

I've put in a requisition for a Su-25T or any other available A2G airframes because I probably should not be trusted with missiles at the moment.

People sleep on the Su-25T because it's the free jet that comes with DCS, but it is really pretty capable in terms of pretty much every mission type that doesn't involve a dogfight.

It has:

Built-in targeting pod (Shkval electro-optical sensor system) that doesn't take up a pylon.

2x 8-shot racks of Vikhr laser beam-riding rockets that wreck pretty much any ground target, with very few exceptions.

2 heavy anti-radiation missiles that are 15 feet long and weigh 3/4 a ton, along with four smaller ones that still erase SAM search and tracking radars. Add the Vikhrs to this loadout and you can wipe entire sites of their air defenses.

Fantasmagoria pod instantly locates radar emitters around you, showing precise locations of SAMs and radar-enabled AAA that are painting your jet. You can slew the targeting pod to the exact location of the radar and then switch to laser-guided weapons, which saves head-down search time.

Only airframe in the sim that has an IR jammer on top of ECM, so you can maximize your chances to survive a missile shot.

A plethora of laser-guided air-to-ground ordinance from the Kh series missiles to the massive S-25L, which is a laser-guided 340mm rocket... for comparison the rocket pods on most NATO attack aircraft fire 70mm Hydra rockets.

If you go unguided, you can strap a ridiculous amount of S-13 rockets that have five 122mm rockets per pylon, which can saturate an entire area in explosions.

Finally, sub-munition dispensers that shower an area in bomblets... like this train

Free jet, slots in this mission for it, free map, free training server to practice on with spawnable missions... if you're on the fence about DCS, come to the goon training server and give the Su-25T a spin, one of us will probably be on to help you get your frog legs.

Can second all of this, the Frogfoot is a ton of fun and, having now started learning the Hornet, very easy to fly and operate. A Vikhr on both wings and maybe a couple of Kh-25's with the fantasmagoria pod and you can wipe out a whole armored column by yourself.

Karen flight, take whatever you want as ordnance. I haven't brushed up on R-60s, so I will be doing 8 ATGMs and some rocket pods. I haven't checked available navigation beacons, but I'm sure we will be fine.

Proposed plan:
1/ Take off without crashing
2/ Sneak around unrelated enemy ground forces
3/ Coordinate with others to sanitize area around VIP
4/ Pick up the fat cat
5/ RTB

Concerns: Gudauta and Sukhumi response aircraft

IDK, maybe we do a little OCA at Gudauta on the way in/back (whoever doesn't have the VIP).

How did this smug dummkopf ever make general?

Mage Squadron

Operation Goof Troop

Mage 1 - Herp - F-15C Eagle

Alright y'all, Mage is currently a singleton flight of yours truly. We welcome all comers, no matter the aircraft, so long as you care about one thing and one thing only: Spittin' hot lead between the eyes of your enemy. Seats and airframes are still available up to the last minute, ain't nobody going to give you hell - the more the merrier.

Objective's simple, make sure our guys make it home and their guys don't. We'll take off from home and either follow Route A(lfred) - the mountain ranges - or Route B(atman) - the ocean. Sticking at their border, high, we'll be able to respond to any and all threats. Planning's a little light this week, but the gist of it is - don't die. Route Alfred is closer to the action and is way more badass, Batman is safe but just kinda mopey over some water, big whoop. The knockoff Flankers from uh, Warlock? Mongoose? They've got two names, whatever they gently caress they are, they're on Batman. Don't know where the gently caress Stingray's going.

We'll be loitering and providing top cover for our strikers, taking care of any pop up groups, maybe a leaker bomber or two. The lovely knockoff Flankers will have to run home early, so we'll pick up where they leave off.

Ground Threats

SA-6s are pieces of poo poo that can hit you from just over ten miles away and can swat flies at about Angels 40. They'll be way out at Senaki, so they're not our problem. Just don't loving fly over them.

NASAMs are assholes and can hit you from under ten miles. You loving see an NS on your RWR, you look out. If you're at Gudauta or Sukhumi, get ready to get the gently caress away and keep an eye looking for smoke, because they don't give launch warning.

Chaparrals are lesser assholes that hit you under five. No warning at all because the fuckers are heaters. Don't be a dumbass, turn off your afterburner and drop flares if you see smoke with no beeping. They're also at Sukhumi.

The rest are lead spitters. You see tracers or clouds of spiky loving metal you try going the other way, or going that way really loving quick.

Air Threats

We're up against loving prop planes and Cold War museum pieces. If you die to one, I'd kill you myself if you weren't already dead. Just don't try to get into a turnfight with anything your grandad would've flown. Swipe down and come away safe. Keep in mind that if it has a jet engine, it probably has missiles, and if it has missiles, that means don't let it get on your rear end.

Armaments

For today's sortie, Mage'll load up with triple drop tanks and a solid pair of AIM-7MH Sparrows and AIM-9M Sidewinders. Round here, we only count up the single digits for all things but number of bullets and kills - no AMRAAMs. We're expecting few bad guys and we've got plenty of solid fighters, if we carry too much back home with us we run the risk of damaging the airframe and that ain't no good for anyone.

Cash is our own folks, so we ain't dropping our tanks and letting the taxpayer foot the bill unless we gently caress up so bad we get a hostile on our six. Same with missiles, you shoot them only to save your own or somebody else's skin - close for guns and take the enemy apart with a few controlled bursts. Rip their wings off, cut their tails, set them ablaze, it's all good.

Rules of Engagement

Weapons hot on all hostiles after you make a courtesy call to Steamboat Willie, but don't be wasteful. Throwing a Sparrow at a Spitfire is like spending more than ten bucks for a burger. Sure, you can do it, but people'll just give you weird fuckin' looks and you'll hate yourself afterwards. That changes if the fucker's on one of our 'Hogs, especially if they carry heaters.

Let's go kill some Looney Tunes.

Porkchop flight

We've been told there are a lot of targets and to expect enemy fighters.

CAP will be to the south of us over the water. If things get spicy we head towards them. Gudauta is a no fly zone for us and a likely source of trouble. We'll operate as much to the west of target area as possible to give CAP a chance at bailing us out.

Loadout
Load 70% fuel, two sidewinders and a full load of brrt.

500lb Bombs, and rockets are required. Mavs optional.

No 2,000lb bombs, no cluster munitions.

RTB to rearm is possible.

Rules of Engagement
If it is on the ground in the target area and not a civilian structure it is fair game. The exception being the bottling plant.

There will be hostile and friendly planes in the AO. Our priority is to bug out if they come. We will have a friendly prop plane in our AO. Don't get all excited about being the first hog driver since the Gulf War to get an A2A kill and blow him up.

I MAP THE FUCK OUT OF PEOPLE
After an incident on Twitter Stingray Flight lead Aragorn426 is no longer allowed to directly communicate with the public. After careful review here is his update.

Stingray Flight Well here we are. Stingray currently composes of a single F-14B Tomcat. Our job is simple, fly high, fly fast, and do some pilot poo poo! Real talk though, our main goal is to be long range cover for any fast movers that these drat corpos might pull out of thin air. We have received intel that TU-22M's have been spotted in the region, and while I'm no expert when it comes to legal matters, all I know is I'm being paid to shoot down any aircraft that threatens our operation, and those Tupolevs are easy pickings for the righteous fury that comes in the form of an AIM-54A Phoenix missile. Ground and air threats will be the same as Mage, Golem/Warlock flights. Except we'll be coasting at angels 40, and while we are certainly capable of holding our own, we have 2 other CAP flights who will be cruising at lower altitudes. We can leave them to deal with the Minnows, the 'Cat wants bigger fish. For loadout, we're gonna keep it simple.
  • 2xAIM-9Ms on the wing gloves
  • 2xAIM-7MH Sparrows on the wing nacelles
  • 4xAIM-54A w/ mk.60RM under the fuselage.
And that wraps it up. Its taken a lot to haul a Canadian F-14B halfway across the world, Bribes of maple syrup in the hundreds, But the big spenders at Disney wanted a Tomcat. We're gonna make sure they dont regret it.

How did this smug dummkopf ever make general?

Operation Goof Troop - Mission 1 - Debriefing

Format stolen from previous campaigns.

Today's mission went well, despite the total lack of situational awareness and understanding of the combat environment. By all rights, I should be dead! But I'm not, and two corporate planes are.

Our Mission
The job was to escort the Hornets, Golem Squadron, on a deep strike mission to knock out Warner Brothers. Turns out, we weren't needed with them! The only threats they faced, other than a MiG 25 they faced head on and took out themselves, were ground based SA-19s.

What Happened
We flew to Warner Brothers, I turned back having been re-tasked to deal with threats out of Gudauta, buzzed a BF-109, gunned down an A-4 after missing it with a heater, came back for the 109 and gunned it down, went chasing an AWACS and turned back.

What Went Right
Guns Guns Guns! Turns out, the very basics worked perfectly. Fairly short and controlled bursts on target, both targets downed within two or three bursts.

What Went Wrong
Holy hell where do we start? Let's start from before the start. DCS removed me from the open beta and it switched my hotkeys around The crew chief moved my chair and hosed with my radar, the bastard. This caused me to be late and slow in the air, which meant I couldn't support the strikers from the front. I also don't think anyone was quite prepared for such an immediate encounter - I sure as hell wasn't.

Visibility was dogshit. Another surprise. That was fine for me, but others had issues. My radar being non functional wasn't a big issue thanks to Steamboat's directions.

Golem 1-2 got downed and I saw a 19 on my RWR. Having been told MiG-19s were in the area, and not knowing that SA-19s were a part of the enemy's air defence, because I thought Tunguskas were just guns, I started circling to see if I could find them.

So, the fucker repeatedly shot at me. Thankfully it didn't hit, but that could've been bad! Pictured are only two of the three attempts on my life.

I did a pass of a BF-109 and missed by initial burst due to dodgy controls and mis-ranging it, thinking it was a dual engine plane of some sort.

Missed a shot on an A-4 with a Sidewinder, misidentified its aspect when firing, which could've led to a friendly fire incident given the nearby F-14.

Where To Improve
First of all - test the plane on the server beforehand. Didn't have the time to do so today, but that would've solved all of the early issues.

Second - if a friendly gets downed, do not go towards them, call AWACS. I put myself into danger for no good reason and didn't even intentionally do anything cool while doing it.

Third - when engaging a slow target, try to do a fast pass and identify it before engaging. VID isn't necessary for this RoE, but it helps with conservation of munitions and prioritisation.

Finally - I engaged the A-4 with a Sidewinder, even though I was vectored to assist allies. I wasn't clear on the picture, though I did ask Steamboat to declare the target at the very least. I had Sparrows for a reason, and not only was that a better engagement profile for the Sparrow, it would've been the safer shot.

In terms of mission strategy, while it turned out the Hornet escort was unnecessary, it was still the right and proper call for safety, as I was the only A2A asset near to them. Route Batman was safe and target rich.

After Action Report - CAP Ghost and Stingray

Our job was to protect the strike flights from fighters and protect the base from bombers. We succeeded. No friendlies were lost to enemy air threats and the CAP skylounge at the base remains intact and functional. We shot down 15 enemy aircraft for an estimated total of over a billion dollars in damage with ordnance no newer than 1982. Two of our pilots became aces, one became an ace in a single sortie. First the Balance Sheet:

LOSSES with (Estimated Value per unit)
3 J-11A airframes-one recoverable ($30m per)
1 F-14A airframe ($38m).

TARGETS DESTROYED with (Estimated Value per unit)
Stingray 1-1 | F-14A destroyed a MiG-25PD ($40m) and an F-4E ($16.3m).
Overall Flight kills: 2, losses: 1-due to Friendly Fire

Overall Flight Damage: $56.3 million

Ghost 1-1 | J-11A destroyed 2x BF-109 K-4's ($1m per), 4x Tu-22M3's ($215m per), and an F-4E ($16.3m).
Ghost 1-2 | J-11A destroyed a MiG-19P ($6m), a BF-109 K-4 ($1m), a P-47D ($1m), 2x F-4E's ($16.3m per) and the enemy AWACS ($176m).
Overall Flight kills: 13, losses: 3

Overall Flight Damage: $980.6 million (including the Blue F-14A replacement)

Combined Flights Overall Damage less Costs: $1.0369 billion

ABSTRACT
The weather was an impediment to our CAP. There were three thick layers of clouds with rain and fog at the lowest altitude. When we ended up in dogfights, we were largely dependent on the radar to identify and track targets. A blue-on-blue incident occurred early in the mission when Stingray 1-1 was being targeted by a MiG-25PD from below and Ghost 1-1 fired a heat-seeking missile into the dogfight. It tracked and destroyed the Stingray F-14A. Abstract will continue below.

COURT MARTIAL
Ghost 1-1 presented a defense at the subsequent court-martial proceeding that amounted to three points: Stingray was under threat of immediate destruction, the low visibility prevented visual IFF and the bandit was very close to Stingray's F-14. The corporate court, being sponsored by pornhubcoin, also took under advisory the J-11A's jungle camouflage livery.

ABSTRACT, CONTINUED:
Stingray was a single ship, so our plan was to fly as a joint CAP flight, over the water. We followed the SEAD flight into the AO, providing top cover.

Engagement #1 - Warbirds and Coldwar MiGs
We were engaged by multiple bogies at different altitudes almost immediately. We were vectored to Gudauta towards multiple low-flying, slow bogeys that ended up being warbird-era fighters. After the combined flights splashed six of them Stingray 1-1 was downed in the incident above and Ghost 1-1 ate a NASAM at low altitude in pursuit of a warbird.

Engagement #2 - Bombers and their Escorts
After regrouping, we noticed several contacts on the radar with a large radar cross-section about 75nm away over the water that we assumed to be bombers. We tasked Stingray 1-1 with their intercept but there were concerns that the four AIM-54 Phoenix missiles Stingray had fired were not tracking and indeed none of them connected. Both of the Ghost ships turned to support the F-14A. We initially saw two radar blips that multiplied as we closed the distance into two sets of FOUR radar contacts each. Ghost 1-1 focused on closing with the lead group which ended up being Tu-22 bombers and Ghost 1-2 went for the rear group which was their F-4 phantom escorts. Stingray was able to catch one of the F-4's with a sidewinder on the way in but had to bug out. Ghost 1-2 splashed another one but ended up with a bandit on his tail that he wasn't able to shake and ate a sidewinder. After a massive furball, all of the bombers and escorts were defeated, except one. Ghost 1-2 relaunched to finish off the surviving F-4 bomber escort and then followed a radar track deep in enemy territory all the way to the red AWACS. Ghost 1-1 was not able to make it back but landed the J-11A on a sandbar close to shore in a water landing.

Stingray 1-1 maintained the CAP coverage for the rest of the mission, but there were no further air threats.

WHERE TO IMPROVE
Intra-Flight comms - raygun callouts should be made including the target's altitude, to help deconflict with potential friendlies who are in or near the mix.
Separation - we got too far separated on the bomber intercept to support each other.
Transition from BVR to WVR - we lost track of each other during dogfights and were unable to quickly regain situational awareness.

Wow, what a welcome. The VIP was so thrilled by their historic rescue and subsequent Gazelle double barrel roll airshow welcome back to Sochi that they organized an impromptu ceremony.

I was even presented with an award! I'm not entirely sure how much the value is, but hopefully it's a decent little nest egg?

I will try to get family passes for the Hind crews and ground controller crews who ensured I was escorted to and from the rescue zone, but no promises. Everyone knows a person, you know?

Court Martial Proceedings

If it pleases the court, following the conclusion of an independent investigation, the Mouse-appointed trial counsel asks to move forward with the general court martial of G W "MadDog" K (Ghost 1-1) for negligent homicide and dereliction of duty.

These offenses arise from a friendly fire incident on June 18, 2028. Counsel seeks to prove that, in his actions on that day, the accused performed a negligent act with the absence of due care for the safety of others, exhibiting a lack of care that a reasonably careful person would have exercised under the same or similar circumstances.

The accused had a duty to perform an Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) interrogation before firing upon an unknown target, and willfully neglected to perform this action without reasonable excuse, resulting in the death of friendly forces and the loss of an aircraft.

Exhibit A: SUV-27 Fire Control System
A trained pilot in command of a Sukhoi Su-27 variant, including the Shenyang J-11A license-built version which the accused was piloting during the incident, will perform an IFF interrogation before prosecuting a target. Performing this action does not alert the target to the presence of another aircraft, and requires only a fraction of a second to complete. The process is accomplished with the SUV-27 Fire Control System in the following manner:

Using the J11's OEPS-27 electro-optical sighting system, or infrared search and track (IRST), system, the pilot will acquire a target. Once the target has been locked, the pilot issues a command to illuminate the target with the "radar on" command. While locked on a target in EO mode, this command does not result in radar lock, but instead performs an IFF interrogation, returning symbology to indicate whether the locked EO target is a friend "AFR" or foe "A" on the HUD.

Fig. 1: A friendly target locked in EO mode and interrogated, returning "AFR" on the left side of the HUD.

Fig. 2: An enemy target locked in EO mode and interrogated, returning "A" on the left side of the HUD.

A pilot claiming the title of "Ace" can reasonably be expected to understand the capabilities of their aircraft to this basic degree, as well as the need to follow established protocols when engaging a target. In light of this failure, it is apparent that the accused willfully neglected to perform their duty, and in failing to do so, caused the destruction of friendly forces.

Counsel asks that the court find the accused guilty of negligent homicide and dereliction of duty and recommends the following punishment for these offenses:
  • Forfeiture of all pay and allowances for actions committed on June 18, 2028
  • Forfeiture of all future pay and allowances until the Corporation is made whole for losses incurred as a result of the accused's actions, totaling $98 million (2xJ-11A and 1xF-14A)
  • Restriction of "guns only" loadout on all aircraft for a period of no less than one mission to avoid further losses to Corporation friendly forces

  • Restriction of "guns only" loadout on all aircraft for a period of no less than one mission to avoid further losses to Corporation friendly forces

The accused has hired a renowned corporate defense attorney to present their defense, which revolves around the following points:

* Stingray 1-1 was on the radio calling out that there was an imminent threat underneath him.

* The MiG-25PD would have killed Stingray 1-1.

* White-out conditions in the dogfight prevented visual IFF.

*Jungle camo livery.

* The decision to fire was split second after the lock - THERE WAS NO TIME.

* The J-11A vertical scan mode locks are not predictable when there are multiple aircraft in the scan zone.

* If the NTSF:SD:SUV radar had locked up the MiG, it would have saved Stingray 1-1.

* Ghost 1-1 went on to do over 800 million dollars in damage to the enemy corporations, successfully completing the bomber intercept mission.

* Chewbacca is a wookie.

* We might not have an HQ, but for the subsequent actions of Ghost 1-1.

* This is GW "MadDog" K's first blue-on-blue incident in over a year and a half of service.

* It does not fit.

* Mercenaries are expendable.

The defense appropriately acknowledges that the cost of the F-14A should be deducted from Ghost 1-1's individual profit, but believes that in light of the points above the case against Ghost 1-1 should be dismissed and no further action should be taken.

If it does not fit, you must acquit.

Good news: If we just make sure to have giant, unarmed airplanes worth a gazillion dollars each in every mission, we can always underwrite fratricide.

Counsel recognizes the accused has hired private representation, and asks that the costs be made public record and deducted from the accused's mercenary fund (or debts).

In response to the defense counsel's statements regarding the events that resulted in the friendly fire incident, let the record show that there is no acknowledgment of the accused's failure to perform an IFF interrogation, only excuses as to why the accused mistakenly targeted a friendly aircraft, followed by a litany of irrelevant information and speculation.

Counsel has no comment on the hypothetical outcome of what the enemy MiG-25PD would or would not have done, as the current timeline was irreversibly established once the accused killed Stingray 1-1. To insinuate that the accused did not commit homicide simply because Stingray 1-1's fate was already sealed, by a plane that never launched on him no less, is preposterous.

Defense counsel's mention of $800 million in damages to enemy assets is indeed impressive, but entirely irrelevant. As is the security of the Magical Kingdom HQ. Pure conjecture. The accused's culpability—not worth—is being decided in this courtroom. As for the operating conditions, there were no fewer than 16 other Corporation aircraft operating in the same environment, and the accused is the only one of them to commit fratricide.

Ultimately, it is defense counsel's own statement that damns the accused: "The decision to fire was split second after the lock." It is this action that shows a lack of care and a dereliction of duty. The accused failed to follow procedure and Stingray 1-1 died because of it.
