That's really interesting. I was looking at some Jazzmaster style pups for bass at Mojo pickups and was wondering why scatter wound was a selling point.

I like the song and I dig her minimalist bluesy style.

But more than anything, I love that guitar. Its a Schorr 'The Future', from a dude in Berlin, I believe. He does these beautiful art deco-y guitars that often have pick-ups on slide rails, so you can move them back and forth.

I really like seeing someone do something interesting with a guitar.

It also helps to really know the guitar part - it's not quite playing on autopilot, but it can't require your full concentration or else you'll have nothing left to think about words.

I taught myself to sing and play bass using Come Together. The riff is fun and the vocal melody is pretty basic, so it allowed me to concentrate on the interactions of the rhythms, which to me is the hard bit.

It's not a skill I'm brilliant with, largely because I don't have anyone to play with so it doesn't get much practice.

mustang 90 would sort of be the best bet but all those colors are bad and you're approaching $700 with those now c'mon at LEAST give me a good color.

correct answer to this night actually be epi wilshire now that i think about it

I don't know if you get Artist Guitars in the US, but their Jazzmaster knockoff actually has P90's. I think the Harley Benton JM is the same guitar, just rebranded.

A bunch of familiar models, I wouldn't be surprised if they share a lot of the parts Thomann are already sourcing for Harley Benton. £109 for a strat with rosewood fingerboard doesn't seem bad. All the usual shaped although I think the thinline tele is a bit of an interesting inclusion, also surprised to see that the Les Paul and SG are fixed neck.

I've not done a full price comparison but the 335-alike is about £15 more, but has the benefit that I can go into the store and try it out. At least for now, they just shut their original Southend store, and I've heard suggestion the Romford store that they now redirect to, my local, may follow when their lease is up.

Whoever's making the P90 Jazzmasters is doing well. That looks like the same one as Harley Benton and Artist, but with a tremolo.

There have been some bad reissues but Firebirds are super bright - almost like a hot single coil. Medium output and not a huge amount of bass response. They're the same housing as mini hums but using bar magnet construction rather than screw pole piece.

Probably the most well known Firebird pickup sound is Neil Young's FB/P90 combo. Really biting and with lots of attack.

this isn't EQ'd and was just recorded with one AT2020 trained on my amp (very dark sounding), but the tone is one i like.

https://vocaroo.com/18ffqBETLEZy

and you can hear some of the sort of playing i do.

i would very much like an amp with more presence, the hot rods are really dark... but i'm real poor atm so that's probably not happening soon.

That kinda reminds me of Five-Eight, who I think are from Athens, Georgia and could've, but didn't hit it big in the 90's.
