ChaosStar0 posted:Just going to mention this, the Pheonix Wright games are a parody of the Japanese Court system. No Jury, 99% conviction rate, Defense Lawyers are considered Scum and are expected to lose. From what I've read, this wasn't entirely intended by the creators for the first game (not that it isn't here, it very much is, it just wasn't their explicit goal when they made the game), but it is a bit more prominent in the later games in the series.

To be fair, there are times where the killer might try to hide the actual murder method (because it might incriminate them specifically) by providing a more "obvious" murder weapon, so it's understandable that they don't want to verbally commit until the autopsy is done at least.

Blueberry Pancakes posted:What did Meekins do to earn such hatred? The guy just came to deliver a report and everyone hates him/calls him stupid? In this particular instance, it's probably just a case of Edgeworth having a particularly bad day, and Meekins bringing an apparently unrelated report just being the straw that broke the camel's back there. Blueberry Pancakes posted:Meekins must be the only person on the force with a lower living wage than Gumshoe. If he isn't, then there really is no justice here. Say what you want about Gumshoe, but even on his worst days he's more reliable than Meekins (if he's made more errors than Meekins, it's only because Gumshoe's been on the force way longer and had the time to do so), and he will often come through in a pinch. With Meekins, it's a miracle that they still employ him, nevermind that he's responsible for recruitment (which is a horrifying thought in many ways).

DKII posted:Wouldn't a bone orchard be a better reference for a graveyard? Or maybe a morgue? Doesn't seem to fit an evidence room as well. Maybe he's just referring to someone supposedly dying in there? The evidence room seems to be mostly used for anything related to closed cases, left to gather dust until the day of evidence transferal when they're removed to be more permanently disposed of. Given that, as well as Marshall's own sour view on his current job, comparing the place to a graveyard probably seems fitting (though I hadn't considered the whole "recent murder" thing that might be playing on Marshall's mind at the moment).
