I ordered the Sovereign of Discord too but I think that’s not being printed yet.

I haven't really longed at ot in depth yet this week, work has been. Though it looms line there's a new mechanic for the US banking or just abandoning ARVN, kind of like the Pakistan track from A Distant Plain

This honestly makes me reluctant to pick up and cold war game nowadays cause the developers never picked up anything besides a Jane's vehicle guide and the soviets are just 'NATO, but worse!'

WiC was a borderline arcade game so I hope it's better than that.

That was one of the things that annoyed me about Wargame was how Pact weapons were like just always worse than NATO equipment. Over all better AA than NATO though.

WiC was fun though. I did like the Soviet campaign that was there expansion

I'm reminded of how awesome the stories in the first Wargame, game were. Especially when you play the ragtag composite army of survivors out to take revenge on the political ruling classes that lead to the war. One of my all time favorites

Yeah the main war thunder mechanic of memorizing the 5 spots and 20 sight lines for every map gets tedious really quick. Most people seem to give up on how boring the ground battles are and just do air instead at higher levels. Just parking an anti-air cannon in spawn and waiting for engine noises is way more fun than the tank fights. There's also pay to win where people buy 6 bushes for every tank which gives you a massive advantage.

Yeah I stoppes playing War Thunder when it felt like I had to start giving money to actually advance down some tech trees

I don't think I've ever won a war in a Paradox game legitimately. In CK people will rebel and they're like a duke with two provinces and their forces always easily outnumber and outclass anything I can field. In EU4 if I declare war on anyone it triggers half the world into an alliance war, and if it doesn't the target country similarly can field larger and better armies no matter what. If I have numerical superiority I'll still lose even with a good general.

In Vicky 2 I won the US Civil War quickly mostly by recuiting from the South mostly for the pre war Military adventure in Mexico that never ended so when the War broke out Confederate units were stuck down near Honduras and I just walked into Richmond with newly recruited Northern troops that hadn't beeen ground to hamburger in Mexico. The only time I ever won a war in a Paradox map game

The real problem with DLC is that they need to tear off the bandaid and make a new game sometime.

HoI IV is definitely too old, the engine fork they use is ancient. Also a bunch of new systems they added should probably be reworked so they fit together better, and focus trees too.

But it's just not going to happen because of all the work that went into it already, so instead they take the halfway step of putting out another expansion pack making the mess even bigger.

Cities Skylines is another big example of they just need to release a 2 already

Alright, so right off the bat, no surprise, guess who wrote the original English report on Kurk's southern flank? Why, Friedrich Fangohr
Chief of Staff, Fourth Panzer Army!

"Perhaps the most significant contribution of the postwar Kursk study— albeit one that has been unrealized until now (1950's)—was Busse's fortunate selection of Friedrich Fangohr to write the chapter on Fourth Panzer Army operations." What other publicans did he write for the US Army? One titled "...Population, and (Its) Influence on Warfare in the Soviet Union". "...he was the only senior member of Fourth Panzer Army staff to do any work for the U.S. Army..." "...he escaped Soviet captivity, serving for two weeks in mid-May as the head of the German liaison staff responsible for coordinating the disarmament and internment of Wehrmacht prisoners after the surrender at Rheims."

"(The history of) Operation Citadel simply could not have been written by anyone else. Thus we have a valuable lost memoir of sorts from a key participant on the battle of Kursk... (though) Fangohr himself has nearly been lost to history."
