Mid-tier Clancy wannabee Dale Brown wrote Storming Heaven in '94, with commercial jets used to make suicide attacks, including one against the Capitol building. There's even an authors note along the lines of 'Gee, I hope nobody thinks to actually try this, because it'd be hard to stop'

Back in the 90s, tabletop RPG designer Greg Stolze made a game called Unknown Armies, this urban fantasy/horror thing in which embodying certain principles of the zeitgeist or the human condition could give you power over it, and eventually let you ascend to a higher state of being in which you could change the nature of reality. In ’99 he wrote a scenario called Fly to Heaven, in which a guy decides to ascend as the archetype of The Terrorist by hijacking a 747 and ritually turning the plane into a microcosm of America, so that when he crashes it into Chicago it be an act of sympathetic magic that will cause American culture to unravel and warp around a newfound obsession with terrorism. Like William Gibson, Stolze should probably be prevented from writing any more books that aren't about how great everything is going to be in five years.

That’s an excellent example. On the other end of the spectrum, I know that WKU’s on campus sewer plant has a hard time staying alive during the seasonal breaks. The big problem with grease traps and restaurants is that they change managers so much. Most towns do have sewer discharge laws that have require grease trap pumping on a schedule, but as soon as you get somebody in comply, management turns over and they stop. It’s bonkers. I used to do compliance inspections and do not miss it.

He's still going, delaying the consequences of the verdict and basically phoning in his show by hitching it to Twitter (basically re-reading tweets), and is clearly focusing on hiding money while the production value of his broadcasts noticably suffers.

Also some of the dipshits from Project Veritas released a very heavily edited series of conversations with an FBI pencil pusher who mentioned Alex's name, so his new conspiracy theory is that even though Sandy Hook definitely happened, the FBI planted anomalies in order to make it look fake, so that Alex would call it fake, so that the families would sue him Obviously

It was store brand Project Veritas, but I can't be assed to look up the actual organization. And the FBI pencil pusher was actually some poor contractor who does, like, purchasing for office supplies for the FBI, shooting his mouth off in a bar. Really sad considering. I hope it blows over for his sake. But otherwise yeah Alex is totally suing the FBI AND CIA because why not for exactly the reasons you describe.

My personal bingo card has Jones pulling a Lowtax. Jones has had a large majority of his life where the only two tools he needed were rage or manipulation and those are failing him spectacularly right now. He's wigging the gently caress out then crawling DEEP in to the bottle*, sometimes live on air. The slightest tickle from the direction of consequences that leaves him in a life of luxury incomprehensible to everyone else is just oil to the water of his ego and he has no tools left to reconcile things. He's been screaming and yelling about how unfairly he is being attacked and how everything in his life is under assault. A healthy, normal person would say "I am not OK, I need help" and then not be able to afford that help because lol America get hosed. Jones just reaches into the only toolbox he's got, pulls out rage and main character syndrome then he's off to the races perfectly assured that he is absolutely right, he's being unfairly attacked because he's right, and the main character wins by fighting the bad guys and winning. One day he's going to get just a little too sloshed and a stray thought will cross his mind that maybe, juuuuust maaaaybe, he can't win this so there's only one way to deny his enemies their victory; by taking it in to his own hands. Since this is America and we don't do anything that would hurt the NRA's feefees even after a kindergarten full of kids decorates the walls with their gray matter he'll have a gun nearby and then all it takes is a second or two to make the eternal decision. *Whether booze bottle or pill bottle or both I leave up to interpretation.
