Let me introduce you to a game you may have heard of, one that is truly unique and has a real cash economy. A game that has been bridging the gap between virtual life and real life long before anyone started hyping up a metaverse and what it could truly become.

I am talking about Entropia Universe on the PC, everything inside this game is valued with real money.   Entropia has an in game currency called PED (project entropia dollar) and every 10 ped is fixed to an exchange rate of $1 US. Your avatar's skills, weapons, clothes, armor, etc. all have a real-world cash value. Depositing to play can be optional as Entropia can also technically be called a free to play game. If you want to put in some grind and some time you can work your avatar slowly into something without ever depositing a cent.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjhHazg5GRY

This game has often been compared to online gambling but it is actually based out of Sweden which has strict anti-gambling laws. It truly seems to work and function similar to a casino but there are game mechanics behind the curtain. The way the game supposedly works is you get back 95-98% of what you spend in the game back in the long run by continuing to cycle your PED and play smart.

The way to actually make money inside Entropia is selling items for markup to other players to cover that 5% long-run loss, start a business, or offer a service. For most players, Entropia is about setting a monthly deposit limit like $10-$30 as you would for any other online game and then learning to play smart within your budget and slowly grow your avatar and revenue.
If you go in and deposit lots of money and do things without knowledge or research you are going to have an extremely bad time in Entropia.  You need to learn how the game works and how to play it efficiently, then it can be possible to make money in this universe as a basic player. If however you are wealthy in the real world, Entropia can be a real pay to win game, you would have to see what playing in the big leagues is worth to you.

I myself have played Entropia for almost 20 years, I started back in 2005 when I was a teenager. I played my first few years of Entropia for free since I was too young to have a credit card and deposit. I cashed out everything on that avatar for roughly $5,000 and I used that money to pay some bills to keep myself in college. I soon after ended up creating a new avatar and starting over.

Recently, I decided to go in full on the game and deposit my life savings ($18,000) to buy a piece of land and start a business inside the game at the end of March. So far I make profit every month and I may pay my land off in 3-5 years. I have made the Austin Texas news about Entropia and my investment. I will toss a link right here to my news article:

https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/central-texas-man-puts-life-savings-into-buying-virtual-property/

I realized after making the news that Entropia could truly be something and that I could help draw interested people to our game.

Everyone goes on about the "metaverse" these days but Entropia has been doing most of that already for years without getting much attention. Entropia has 6 unique and distinct planets inside the game that you avatar can visit at any time and use their gear universally inside the game. It truly is the first metaverse style experience and it just never had the exposure that it needs.
I know other people in the game who also have investments and have found ways to link their real life and virtual life like no other game can do at the moment. Inside our universe it is possible to find your niche and offer a service or business that players will pay you for: crafting clothing and fashion, flying them through space like a taxi, reselling resources, and offering promoting services to land area owners like myself. If you have the will there is generally a way on EU, you just need to figure out how to get there and be patient while playing smart.

I have decided that I wanted to try and become a voice in the real world for this game that I love. Hence the news articles and what-not. There isn't much info out there in the US about Entropia and I want to change that. I have been granted an affiliate link which I will use to grow the game and help bring in new players.
I want to teach and show you what this game can be. Granted, I cannot guarantee your success on everything you do. If everyone profited on every action every single time this game couldn't exist. To me, there seems to be "luck cycles" or waves and sometimes you are doing well for a bit and sometimes you aren't.  Hanging in and playing smart, researching where to potentially loot items of value, and adjusting your actions/budgets when things aren't working is the best way to succeed! The developers of this game aren't going to just hand it to you on a silver platter.

I could go into real depth about the main professions of hunting, mining or crafting but then this initial post would be even longer than it actually is. There is lots of beginner advice and tutorials especially on YouTube and quite a few of them I couldn't do any better myself.
If you are interested in something in particular about EU by all means I would love to answer it. Knowledge is one of the most valuable things in the game and I don't mind sharing mine, it is just easier to answer questions than to do a really wide shotgun style lengthy blast of broad game info.
Here is where I come into this I suppose. An affiliate link was granted to me to promote the game:

https://account.entropiauniverse.com/new-account/?ccode=joker0722

Any player who signs up under my link will start on my home planet of Arkadia (1 of the 6 unique planets) instead of somewhere else in the universe. I spend a vast majority of my play time on Arkadia and it will be easy for me to show you the ropes and whatnot.
If you remember me mentioning how the game is about getting back the overall loss of 5% that the game makers take in the long run depending on your actions. I get a cut of that revenue (they take 4.75% and I get 0.25% essentially) for you signing up under my link and that is my incentive to grow the game with players and do my best making sure they stick around, learn to play smart  and love Entropia themselves.

If you are interested in learning a little bit about this unique game by all means ask any questions. If you are interested in trying please sign up with or without my link and I will help you either way.  Just contact my avatar (David Joker Potanus) in game, join the discord for my land area ( https://discord.gg/vV4FgS9pb9 ) or reach out to me on here at the SA forums.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,  it is complicated and difficult for me to explain to people what I do without rambling on and on. I also realize this isn't the flashiest thread ever created.

I don't think Entropia actually qualifies as a metaverse game, even if many of its mechanics and economy were way ahead of its time and are what metaverse scams (there are no actual finished metaverse products yet anyways) are using now. But the big thing with metaverse is that it's primarily an advertising platform that is designed for bringing in other brands. Entropia Universe doesn't do that as far as I know? I tried playing this game back in like 2005, but was in the same position you are, didn't have the means to purchase anything, and the idea of everything costing real money made very little sense to me, and seemed extremely unappealing. It still does if I am being totally honest! I would never give this game another try, but i've always been curious in reading stories of people who managed to make it work. I hope it works out for you! That is a gigantic investment you made and seems completely insane to me. Huge huge huge risk doing what you did, but it seems like it will work out, and I hope it does.

It is a massive red flag that you didn't even allude to what kind of game it is or what it plays like. What about this game made you throw your life savings into it?

While I'm always fascinated by games like these and enjoy learning about them, it kinda sucks that the whole point of this thread is 'please click my affiliate link so I can make money off you'.

Well my thread was already really long and I wanted to cover my points of view on the game and a little about why I play it. You can easily Google what it is about if you are truly interested. There is so much here I couldn't include it all.
I am fairly certain I mentioned I could care less if you joined using my link I would still help and guide you in the game. Yeah I would get a slight benefit but I would rather see the playerbase grow. I appreciate your interest in Entropia Universe!

I wish there was a version of this game without the real money involved. The world and sci-fi setting is cool.

Justinen

Yeah the setting and unpredictability is what I truly like also. A version without the real cash economy would be fun and I think less stressful on some people in the long run.
It is very possible to succeed in Entropia without ever depositing a single cent though, there are several ways to slowly work up your avatar. I know players who have better gear and skills than I do and they got there by not depositing and playing smart. Granted I could only imagine the hours they spent of their life to get there.

I could go into more details about the game, being a new player and the main 3 professions of hunting, mining and crafting. I think it would be nice to show the game I love to some of y'all. Feel free to not sign up under me or ever deposit, I would still give advice and guidance because increasing the player base is vital even if I get nothing directly from it. Reach out if you have questions and want to learn this unique game.

I didn't want to make a crazy long initial post that no one would read and clog it up with tutorials. The video link I posted should give a rough idea what Entropia is about. Judging by the first responses people didn't take the time to read what I first posted anyways before grabbing the pitchforks. 🙄

I tried it but didn't want to spend any money, I farmed animal sweat for many hours and still didn't get a lot of money, a friend of mine who actually made a lot of money bought me a gun and some bullets, I killed animals with it and made a little bit of money, then ran out of bullets and still didn't have enough money so I had to go back to farming sweat

So I quit

That's my Entropia story

Okay, that's true. Good point, Marquess. Point for you. But you get a point taken away for being a dick. So, back to zero.
