The dialectical struggle of history has always, essentially, been a question of how to apply justice to matter. Take away matter and what remains is justice.
Thread is the title. Talk about your opinions on:
  1. How food is made now, under capitalism
  2. How food might be made in the future
  3. How food should be made, distributed, or used
  4. Is gardening a revolutionary act?
  5. Historical writing from theorists about these or related topics
  6. What would you grow if you could grow things?
  7. How hosed are we by climate change - entirely or utterly?
  8. Something related
  9. Weed tips
  10. What is the most proletarian plant? (it is the potato)

Effortposts are appreciated. :)

Less Cows.

Less Trucks. More trains.

Also farmers are having tons of problems, but because we tell the story of the self sustaining farmer, and we end up just making stuff harder.
https://thecounter.org/sarah-mock-fails-to-prove-small-family-farms-are-the-future/

Edit: In 1900's more than 80% of the usa were farmers but now less than 1% of the nation, under 3 million people, work in the farming business.
Automation hit farming hard, but jobs didn't dry up, so it's fine to automate, so long as people are able to be trained or given money to live a good life.

Whoa, automatic tractors are wild.

which just basically means throwing more tech tied to specific software into fields, so the "platform capitalism" model can be brought into agriculture. that video straight up compares it to Uber. there's a lot of technology used in agriculture already, but not enough subscription fees I guess. It's insidious when a tool of US imperialism like the Inter American Development Bank are pushing it onto Latin America.

seems like it might also function as loss prevention; if you track every pumpkin or whatever you know if someone's nicked one and punish the farmer. Pretty spooky if we assume food might become scarser than it is today in the near-mid future

It was during peak McCarthyism and the Cold War, funded by the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations. The global south was facing food shortages and famines and turned to the post-WW2 order for help.

If it wasn't done intentionally it accidentally prevented more struggling countries from turning to the USSR for help.

It's an underrated conspiracy and nobody really talks about it.
