I don't have any strong opinion on Islam but I think we can all agree that the real culprits in this case were those loving democrats who keep passing gun control laws that prevent honest citizens like Mr Rushdie from packing heat and defending themselves. Rushdie is a great stylist and a decent writer whose best book, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, is when he isn't trying so hard to present Eastern exoticism to the Brits. He's also a fantastically catty bitch and his memoir of being in hiding, Joseph Anton, just goes hard at anyone who doesn't worship the ground he walks on. I wish him well.
