I've been chasing an intermittent, but increasingly frequent, water infiltration issue on my GF's 2017 Kia Forte LX for the last several months. It started in November 2020 after a pretty serious rain, shop determined it was a leaky tail light, they "fixed it" and there were no issues until about 6 months ago when water began appearing in the passenger tail light eventually the trunk and finally and rear passenger floorboard on the driver's side. I replaced the foam tail light seal a month ago, since then the trunk and tail light and floor have been dry.... Until today when she got out of work and discovered the carpet behind and beneath her divers seat was sopping wet, we have had mild rain throughout the day, the tail light and trunk are still dry. What else should I be looking for without shotgunning door seals or a bilge pump at it? The car has no sunroof to have a drain to worry about, the passenger footwells (both front and back) stay dry so it shouldn't be the AC drain that I see people complaining about being stopped up. Also the car hasn't been in any accidents so panel fitment should be as good (or bad) as it was from new, for whatever that's worth. I tried running a hose over the door seals and didn't notice any water coming in and the seals appear to be in good shape. And before someone asks... she swears that she didn't leave the window down. You have ticked off all the things I would have suggested. Maybe check the seal around the hatch, or truck or whatever a Kia Forte has. Sometimes they have drainage channels like sunroofs do I actually had water coming UP from the wet road in my altezza and it turned out to be a missing bung underneath the boot/trunk. Could it be coming UP from the road?

Get a garden hose and a strong light source. Fold down the back seat and look around inside the trunk while someone sprays around with a garden hose. A mirror or two might also be helpful.

I bought a 2002-ish Taurus 2 years old for next to nothing. I jumped on the car as soon as it was listed, because the price was too good to be true. Very shortly thereafter (when I was giving it a preliminary clean), I noticed the driver's floor was wet, front and rear. This was a no-sunroof car, too. I did a lot of digging and don't remember the exact process, but I got lucky and found a guy that was a body seam sealer specialist, and he knew right where to look. We disassembled the cowl area and he found a seam right under the A pillar. He used a bunch of seam sealer and covered the area and it was never wet again. Oddball incident, sure, but you may be looking for an oddball at this point.
