Against Northwestern! Like unless they have become some completely different team in the offseason that seems like a bad sign.

Imagine explaining this entire day's events to a Nebraska fan circa 1995.

"Nebraska lost a conference game against Northwestern in Ireland to open the college football season, 1 week before the season's official beginning" is a hell of a sentence and really illustrates just how far the sport has come in like 27ish years.

Boston College and Army played in Ireland in 1988 and Pitt and Rutgers in 1989.

In 1983, Nebraska and Penn State faced off in Week 0 at Giants Stadium in the first ever Week 0. Before 2002, there were two different "kickoff" games that happened the week before the season officially started.

The dumbest thing about this quote is Northwestern successfully ran the same play over and over again to run out the 4th quarter.

Nebraska played in this in 1992 and a week 0 game in 1994 (the Kickoff Classic against WVU).
