I overheard a conversation in the street between a teacher from the local comp and a parent whose kid was being bullied (and yes I did lurk nearby pretending to look at jewellery in a shop window to tune in) and the mother was 'what are the school doing about it' and the teacher said 'we've had the parents in and they said they were proud of their kid being a bully because it meant he was getting respect'! Don't know what you can do other than get the fuzz involved. As for the kiddo who was attacked, therapy is good but maybe also some self-defence classes etc? Danger is the bullied kiddo starts to bully other kids - I've seen this happen.

Each session will last 2 hours though some will end up during the last 25 minutes at a particular place - usually indoors where we will meet someone who can show us materials and add to our learning that week. Wow just watching this Portillo Hidden History episode about the surgeon who pioneered facial reconstruction surgery on returning soldiers from WW1 and how he went on to carry out the first two gender reassignment surgeries. In 1946 he carried out, along with a colleague, the first sex change surgery in history (as far as we know - my comment). Laura Maud Dillon became Michael Dillon. And then in 1951 Robert Cowell became Roberta Cowell. (Graphic images of severely damaged faces). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69g3fGCMgxE

NotJustANumber99 posted:Bit surprised about that figure. What, presumably larger traders, are accounting for this overall increase if all the small ones like this brewery are seeing their exports obliterated? Could be currency fluctuations. If £v€ has gone down then say if it cost €1000 and rate was 1.15€ to £1 then that's £869.56, and if rate is now €1.1 to £1 then it's £909.09 now so it looks like more. (NB I haven't checked currency rates these are just examples). This is why if £drops against $ FTSE 100 goes up because all the dollar investments worth more in £. Bizarrely at work we've just had value of donations from one platform increase because UK donors using platform have it converted to USD when they pay. We get a monthly payout often 2 months in arrears of all the donations made (all turn into USD regardless of original currency). Then the payout in USD with a platform fee in USD deducted is exchanged to £ when it hits our bank and the end of August payout the effect has been that the fees have increased the donation in £! First time that's happened. I recalculated everything to make sure no error and emailed the ptb to say it wasn't an error. (Sorry if typos phone posting)

Puberty blockers: I too am not 100% on this (I mean in terms of understanding). When people say to me stuff like no one under the age of 18 should get these things, what I have gleaned mostly from here (and stand to be corrected!) and say to them - well to the ones who are willing to have a proper discussion anyway - is: "As I understand it, if you go through puberty in your outward body, then irreversible physiological changes occur. However, if you take puberty blockers and don't go through puberty at the 'usual' age, and then when you're 18 or whatever decide that actually you don't wish to transition, you stop taking the blockers and have puberty, albeit at a later age than most people, and with no adverse effects." Is this understanding right? Jaeluni Asjil fucked around with this message at 21:23 on Sep 6, 2022 |
