Yes. Yes they are, OP. Some of them have chlorinated water. Don't let your dog drink it.

The single press tap is good, hit tap/wash right hand (dick holding while pissing hand), give handy with left hand. Efficient.

I was a Janitor at a supermarket... I never once cleaned the water fountain. Nobody ever mentioned it. Like half a year after I quit the douche that used to mix chemicals died in the floor sink. I think he drank too much of the covid handwash.

Like a lot of other people in this thread as well as in the general public, I'm a big fan of drinking water with my mouth. It's easily #1 in the top 3 orifii to ingest water. It's great, I've been doing it my whole life! If you haven't, I really advise you to try, you'll be amazed how easy it is

The thing about water fountains is bees and wasps are attracted to them, water sources, and if they havent been used for a while the bee or wasp has to go down the spout to get to the water... yadda yadda you crank that tap and shoot a bee or wasp down into your neck throat. Its angry, youre scared. Its the worst of both worlds.

The only thing I remember from the time my class took us on a trip to Independence Hall was that there were water fountains and they smelled like piss.

No, the only cleaning that needs to be done is wiping down the surface. That’s what Elkay’s website says anyways. https://helpcenter.elkay.com/s/article/General-Drinking-Solutions-Clean-Care Basically any part of any commercial building will have cutsheets/maintenance documents available on the internet just FYI. There was a mushroom growing upside down in my bathroom once. The ceiling eventually fell down due to a water leak above. This was all fine, because it may have scattered the cockroaches who loved my tooth brush for some reason.

Do you mean water fountains that people can splash about in/aerates water bodies, or do you mean American "water fountain" where people put their mouth and drink? People are referring to both in this thread. Serious answer: Drinking ones no, for the same reason your pipes into your kitchen taps don't get mould (water is usually chlorinated, and would flush things through since the surface of the pipes are smooth and under pressure). Splashy ones possibly, depending on the design. If they're ones which people are expected to splash about in then they've usually got similar health regulations to public swimming pools. If they're meant to just aerate water or be a nice thing to look at then pretty much anything goes.

It's like any public utility, if they're regularly maintained, there's no problem. If the municipal maintenance budget has been cut to non-existence by successive right-wing administration's, though...
