Squid Squad
Hey, so, we decided to take a break this month, and my wife was set on Venice. I've heard lots of good things and obviously wanna check out the gondolas and the Doge's Palace (much wow etc).

But beyond that, I haven't really found a great deal to do? We're only there 4 days, so it's not like there's some huge void to fill, and I'm sure just wandering around, drinking and eating, checking out museums will be cool

But I was just a little surprised at how little I could find online to actually do there?

Any recommendations most welcome, thanks!

Go to the Europe thread and search for Venice, since you have search access on SA:

https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3318901

If you don't see anything striking there, then you can ask (more likely to be seen there) and mention what you generally like – art, architecture, food, natural settings, bar districts, ... – and it's easier to give pointers for people who know the place well.

You can also check Wikivoyage for general info ( https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Venice ) and Atlas Obscura for a list of things that are interesting but often not on every blog post and guidebook about Venice: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/venice-italy

FWIW, as someone who lived in Italy for nearly a year - Mestre was far better if for no other reason than the huge number of tourists on the island.

You could easily put down a full day in Venice (maybe two) to just wandering around all the tiny side streets and seeing what random shops and historical architecture you come upon.
