I've long suspected that Microsoft's angle is to try to get Game Pass on Playstation (for example the wording of this statement from around the time of the Bethesda acquisition seemed like it had some subtext aimed at Sony).

Well, I hadn't even seen this when I wrote the previous post above but it looks like Microsoft basically confirmed my suspicions last week

That would be great thing. You could play Halo on your PS5.

There’s not much to explain really, they’re just weird but normal people who feel like people. It’s oddly refreshing. Sometimes it’s nice to have that kind of game where there’s nothing (outside of the fReAKeRs etc) that’s too weird or unique on that level. It’s just grounded in people being their goofy selves. Nothing profound or infinitely complex, just people doing their thing in a situation. If you don’t vibe with the characters in something like Days Gone you definitely won’t get the appeal of it though, and that’s totally reasonable.

Yeah. I loved the main characters and Deacon is a good protagonist. An idiot biker with a heart.
Still the best game I've played on my PS5. #Nogames

It is very unforgiving. It goes twice as hard on simulating skating than Skate series, when compared to tony hawks. It is even more harder sim than Skater XL.

For what it's worth I was also not a big fan of What Remains of Edith Finch. I think it has one truly good and affecting vignette that successfully blends narrative with gameplay, and all the rest amount to very little besides clicking forward to see how this next sucker died. I feel like they were going for this really powerful and affecting story about death and generational trauma that ended up feeling more like a farce. Not enough time is spent with the characters to really develop an emotional attachment to them so witnessing their untimely end doesn't hit as hard as it should.

I thought the feelings of farce were intentional?
Guessing how they all died before it actually happened was the funny part.
The gameplay or lack of it was the meh part.

Dying light 2 has more of a parkour focus. Lot of roof-climbing and running.
There's paragliding and other cool stuff later on. There's also lot of combat vs humans too.

Dead Island seems to be more ground combat based.

Yeah. Desert looks a bit boring place.

What I've seen so far is that each planet zone has the central area that has the hand placed things like pirate bases and stuff.
Outside of that there's not much to find, outside of animals/minerals.

No pirate caches to find just by walking 6 minutes straight to NW from the base.

In fairness, in any of their other games there would be three or four things on your compass so just a minute's walk could take you to a tomb, a mine, an encampment, a fortress, or maybe a town. Okay, the next step is generally "kill everyone and steal anything" but there is a little more than nothing to explore.

True.
These planet regions look like they are equivalent of Dungeons within earlier Bethesda game.
You step inside vault door or Oblivion gate and explore another map.
When you finish or get bored you step out and go to another region/planet/system.

Yeah. Some of the more fun spells were nerfed.
Like Polymorph turns an enemy into a sheep in BG3.

In tabletop you can turn anyone into anything up to your level and if it is a friendly target there's no change to fail.
So you can turn yourself or party member into a T-REX at lvl 8. :black101:

Funnily enough, my wizards most OP damage spell ended up being the Magic Missile from the 1st level.
That combined with an item that gave me an extra missile to each salvo and another Item that added my INT bonus to each missiles damage.
MM shoots 4 missiles on lvl 1 and one more for each higher spell level slot you use.
Each missile did 7-10 damage to target and had 100% chance to hit, no saves.
So everyone else in party dealt their damage first and Wizard-artillery finished anyone with low HP.
2 Missiles to finish that one, 3 missiles to finish second one, rest of the missiles against the third dude.

edit: and certain lategame enemy group had a stack of shields that block 1 attack each. Highest level one had something like 7 shields like that.
One Magic missile salvo later: Bye Bye shields.
