I think there is only one time it matters, where they are showing you prize boxes to pick from. Which I thankfully knew about ahead of time thanks to hearing someone say essentially "What the gently caress it actually matters this time!?" When the rewards are a T-shirt, or the encounter finder which will let Dan hunt down mister shakedown to punch him (Or maybe it was the substory finder? Some kinda detector). I never got into actually playing the Yakuza series until Zero. But my highly biased mind wants to say that the crane machine in Zero felt the least bullshit of the ones since then? Maybe it was the average shape of the prizes that helped.

I can never remember what the other mister Shakedown's deal is. I am unsure if that is because his reasons are boring, or the first one's reasons are so wonderful they are all I can think about. I also goddamned love slugger style, even if it is really hard to enjoy until you unlock "Stop bouncing off of walls like an idiot." or whatever the skill that makes it stop being a pain in the rear end in alley fights was. I am too weak to use joke shoes for longer than like, an hour tops  Also, cruel reminders of one of the petty grievances I have in videogames. Games making a big deal about unlocking disarming moves, when everyone you really want to disarm is either immune or keeps pulling out spares.
