The correct term is "unlock world", in the vein of "open world" and "linear".

Metroid Dread is an unlock world 2d platformer.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world third person shooter.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a linear first person shooter.
Control is an unlock world third person shooter.
Binary Domain is a linear first person shooter with RPG elements.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an open world third person action/adventure game with unlock world elements.
Crash Twinsanity is a linear 3d platformer with open world elements.

I'm happy to have cleared this up for everyone now and for the rest of time.
