Just a snitch. And mirror-Ranko has turned up. Both back in the world of maids after a prison stay, finding things have changed, and struggling with those changes in their own way.

And the alien-themed cafes grand plan is to smash the world with a baseball bat. Jokes on them, the biscuit hammer is going to do that.

Also, the NA localization team hosed up a perfectly good alliteration opportunity by calling her Crimson Supernova instead of Scarlet Supernova. :colbert:

One interesting thing is that Nagomi seems to be speed running Ranko's back story Ranko did the sisterhood and has shown in the past she wasn't into violence

That seems to be the general idea, yeah - Ranko is protective of Nagomi because she reminds her of her younger self and she wants things to work out better for her.

The series is going to end with a jump forward to 2022 with Nagomi being the queen boss bitch of the maid underworld.

Yeah I am 100% expecting Nagomi's arc to be that she eventually realizes violence is inevitable and turns into a monster to protect her friends.

I'd have to watch again but Ranko's Sister looks like the current boss of Creatureland. Might just be similarities in hairstyle and color though.

I definitely thought it looked a lot like her as well, far too much to be coincidence especially since she looks to be Ranko's age range.

The whole park sequence is utter nonsense to a non-viewer but incredibly compelling storytelling for those who've been watching along.

Nah, this is the classic turn. The old wild style of gang war gets revealed to be nothing in the face of the new order, big business. just as violent, but cleaner and quieter. oinky doink now is the last loose end for them now that they've won the war

unfortunately the story taking this turn is bad news for rankos life expectancy imo

I'm not quite so sure - she's the old-school yakuza who was able to survive and (in her own way) thrive rather than flaming out in a big self-destructive tantrum because things aren't as they used to be. Change the recipe to keep things the same and all that. While we already had a preview of that, I think we'll end up with a big hero moment where it's Nagomi who kicks an incredible amount of rear end to rescue her.

studio mujahideen
May 3, 2005

Did she, though? She's been in prison this whole time, and the first thing she did when she got out was wipe out another cafe. There's a reason Ranko and Manami hit it off, they're the old generation. The one who evolved is the (presumably Ranko's sister) head of Creatureland.

rankos obviously more loyal and even keel, probably went to prison because she took the fall for something her sister did

Ranko never tries to create significantly more chaos and violence than presently exists, and goes out of her way to protect and nurture the next generation of maids. She lives in the world, rather than trying to burn it down (well, except for occasional, highly specific parts of it).
