Polyphia is a progressive rock from Plano, Texas. Founded in 2010, the band has developed a signature sound that has helped lead guitarists Tim Henson & Scotty LePage become some of the biggest and exciting names in contemporary guitar music. Polyphia celebrate their twelfth year as a band this month by releasing their fourth full length studio album, Remember That You Will Die, and they have recently announced a 2023 Spring & Summer tour in North America. They have a very dedicated cult following that stems from the boys being extremely online and developing their web presence through social media rather than going broke touring in half empty basements. You can frequently find the band streaming on Twitch or YouTube, and they are known to share rare cuts and unreleased music during their streams. With their roots firmly planted in progressive rock and metal, they've expanded dramatically over the last decade and have gone on to work across every genre and make music with some of the most talented producers and performers working today in order to create music that pushes boundaries and proves anything is sonically possible. I'm really enjoying the album, it's nice and varied. The songs don't drill into the same idea over and over like a lot of instrumentals in the prog space. I think 40 minutes is a really good length for a polyphia album. I also like that they've constantly shied away from their tracks with a featured vocalists being traditional rock songs - it'd be easy to fall back to standard riffing and beats, but they stick to the style. Ego Death is insane, as we all know.
