🚣RowboatMan: ❄️Freezing time🕰️ is an old P.I. 🥧trick...

Greeting goons both far and near!

Now is a wonderful time of year!

A time to laugh, a time to cheer!

A time to make other people sneer!

Yes, it's the 2022 SOMETHING AWFUL CHRISTMAS MUSIC THREAD

(I'll be taking direction from last year's OP since I covered pretty much everything in it. Also, Ernest is still the GOAT)

Yes, that's right; the moment Halloween ends, Awful Xmas season BEGINS!

Here's a bit of a Q and A for those of you just joining us:

Q: What is this about? I've heard of it but never really looked into it.
A: Since 2009, every year, goons both musical and not come together to create an entire album of both awful and awesome home-grown Christmas music!

Q: I don't have any instruments.
A: I don't care! You can still join in! Collab with someone else! Do artwork! Come up with lyrics or song ideas! It's worked in the past! Hell, even posting ITT and cheering everyone on is a wonderful idea!

Q: Ok, so I made a thing, what do I do now?
A: You upload it to Soundcloud or even google drive, but there are two important rules to this!
:siren:
Rule 1: When you post your song, include the words Kristopher Kringle says hello in your post. It helps me separate the submissions from the 'oh man, this song was great!' reposts (which are fine, but I don't want to start downloading old songs)
Rule 2: Speaking of downloading, MAKE SURE YOUR TRACK IS DOWNLOADABLE. This is extremely important! Every year, I take all of the tracks, compile them, order them, and then upload a zip file that gets shared around. I WILL be putting last year's and this year's album up on my site.

Q: Where can I listen to older tracks?
A: https://saxmas.bandcamp.com/ and also my personal site, https://saxmas.robotcousin.com/ (yes, I need to also put 2017-2021 (holy poo poo) up, I'll get to it).

Q: Does this have anything to do with Ernest?
A: No, I just love Jim Varney :rip:

:siren: THE DUE DATE IS THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT IN YOUR CHOSEN TIME ZONE, DECEMBER 21st 2021 :siren:

Also...

:siren:

If you all could provide FLAC files from the get-go, that really, REALLY helps later on, as I convert them.

:siren:

So get to it, goons! It is my favourite time of year, sort of partially maybe because of you all.

Also, sometimes I tweet about this stuff, and I always use #awfulxmas so feel free to do the same, and we can be donned with gay apparel together.

So, whether you can sing, edit, produce, or maybe you just art, it's fine! Just. Post. Your. Attempt.

Merry Christmas, you maniacs.

Edit: But wait, there's more!

If these could be added to the OP to join the rest that'd be swell. A large number of these were hit by copyright claims so if something disappears from a playlist just don't be too surprised, that's kinda how it is. And if it doesn't go without saying, I'll upload this year's as well once it's officially compiled

And while I was at it I was a little self-indulgent and reuploaded my 2018 contribution for easier discoverability

Maniacs, indeed! I've been waiting for this thread! I've already started writing my annual Santa Odin track and I think this is going to be a good one. It'll be a challenge to voice, but it should be quite fun. I had a flash of a musical idea some time ago, but it's gone, probably for the best. If I can find a collaborator who can create music, though, I can probably come up with a non-parody track idea or two.

EDIT: I've already got an idea for music: Kirk's Red Wreath. All I have so far is this.

Kirk's Red Wreath posted:

There’s a man I’m sure that you all know
He loves the tree and the mistletoe
When the season comes his joy abounds
For his holiday symbol that’s big and round
It's known all throughout the town
As Kirk's red wreath

He made it himself by working hard
He did it in the house and in the yard
It took years of practice and dedication
So tip your hat in salutation
Nothing will bring the kind of elation
You get from Kirk’s red wreath.

It’s paired with balls and a swinging cane
It’s big enough to fit a model train
He made it as wide as it can be
For the viewing pleasure of you and me
His hands hold it there for you to see
The famous Kirk’s red wreath

[INSTRUMENTAL BREAK]

It may not be made from sprigs of holly
But it’ll make you so very jolly
He shows everybody that big red O
As the people are saying “ho, ho, ho”
Green’s not the only Christmas color, you know
That’s why it’s Kirk’s red wreath

His hands hold that ring so very tight
While the ground outside is snowy and white
He’ll be showing it off all Christmas night
People stop what they’re doing and they all shout
When they see Kirk’s red wreath
You’ll understand what I’m talking about
When you see Kirk’s red wreath

Well, for the past... however many years, the Awful Xmas Music thread starts as soon as Halloween is over. It's so more people have more time to work on more music (if they want, of course). That way, when Dec 21st rolls around, we end up with a massive collection of tracks, all set for Christmas itself.

And I'd take any of these goons and any of their songs over the poo poo that gets played traditionally and commercially. THAT poo poo starts almost as soon, so this feels like a wonderful antithesis to that.
