HA HA HA, MERRY SECULAR WINTER* HOLIDAYS! So says Sam D. Kloss, our jolly secular winter* holiday mascot, who brings toys and gifts to good young orbs regarless of cultural or spiritual affiliation! Unless you've used a coupon or deal in the past year, that will definitely get you on the "misbehaving" list. This year we have a small and entirely optional twist! If and only if you request it, when a signed up person receives their santee's (er, "samtee's") identity they will also receive a randomly selected gift-giving rule/theme. The idea is that some part of your gift should, to the extent possible, try to fit the rule/theme (which will be unique for each participant). How that is accomplished will be entirely up to each Secret Sam, and the consequences for not doing it will be precisely nothing. Rules (1) In order to participate, you must have at least 10 posts (or threads) in BYOB over the past year. (2) You may choose to receive digital game(s), digital goods or forum upgrades instead of actual snail mail packages. You may also provide both snail mail address and steam/other game platform information and let your santa pick. (3) To sign up you must do two things: - Send an email to manyfisted@gmail.com with your user name and mailing address and/or a link to your steam/other games account. Also please include whether you are willing to ship domestically, ship internationally, and/or send a digital game or forum upgrade, also whether you would like to receive a rule/theme for your own gift giving. - Write a letter to Sam in this thread! Please cover things like allergies, t-shirt size, willingness to accept things that are NSFW or drug related, and likes and dislikes. If you're accepting digital gifts broadly include what games you'd like. Secret Sam needs some guidance and I need to be sure that the random email I received requesting a gift was really from you. (4) Minimum gift amount is $15. Remember that shipping, especially international shipping, can be very (!) expensive. If you can't afford shipping on top of the gift amount then choose to send a digital good or forum upgrade instead, that's totally fine. If you have requested a rule/theme for your gift, don't forget to tell your samtee what it is so they can see how you've done! (5) You must post in this thread when you receive your gift. Sam wants to know that you received your gift, and the mods need to be sure your Sam isn't a deadbeat. (6) Deadbeats: If after signing up you do not send a gift by the deadline, you will be banned. No exceptions. If you have plat and an av, your ban will cost you more than sending the gift. So seriously, if you're not going to send something, don't sign up. Don't ruin secular Wintermas please! A word about privacy: Obviously, all addresses will only be handled by the BYOB mods, being Goons are Great and myself, and not shared with anyone or posted anywhere, including other mods/admins. We also won't store them, but instead delete all of it once we are done. However, your Secret Sam, of course, will need to see your personal information to send you anything and you won't know who your Sam is or might become, so be aware of this before signing up. If you are concerned about your privacy but still want to participate, we'd recommend signing up for a video game or forum upgrade of some sort instead of an actual package, or, if you prefer, rent yourself a PO box. Prices for those range widely depending on your location and size rented, but you can safely receive mail and share its address without worrying about your personal information - just make sure you're prepared to actually receive stuff there. Registration for such things can often be done online. ----------------------------- Deadlines December 15th: Domestic shipping deadline December 22nd: Digital Deadline If possible, please try to keep or make a photo of the receipt or the box just so we can see that if it doesn't make it through, you did your best. No need to send anything though, only if it doesn't work out. Also, as noted last year, please make sure to check local legislation for both yourself and, if international, your samtee's area. HELL YEAH GONNA EDIT THIS POST LATER e: okay i love everything. mail me drugs or whatever. shirt size would be large i guess? mostly what i'd like is a little capsule of your region. i've gotten cool stickers from local bars, mixed drink kits, a really cool drawing of my cat in a hammock, vinyl records, and every thing has been treasured. if you get my name just send me whatever you think is cool and you think another human would like. i will be grumpy if i get one of those tricky cans of springy snakes or some sort of dead animal but honestly would be cool with bones so this whole sentence is moot. thank you sam i love you. I'm in! I love this! I am a men's L or XL. No allergies. I'm cool with NWS stuff, but no drug stuff please! I'm in Japan so that could get me in a lot of trouble/deported. Other than that, I'm interested in local foods/snacks and weird music (mostly noise). It's always fun to see what happens! |

I'd love to receive a gift from you, Secret Sam. Here are some things you should know. I don't use drugs or alcohol, and I would prefer not to receive anything pornographic. Something artfully raunchy is fine though. I'm sure you know the difference. I don't have any relevant allergies, but I don't eat meat or fish or byproducts from those like gelatin. I hope that's not too much of a bother. I wear a standard t-shirt size L, but I have plenty of t-shirts. I would love to have something small that'll fit right into my small city slicker apartment, or something I can eat or brew up, or something that will get used up or worn out. I would love to share a little lived experience with something you picked out for me. If it brings my mind to the place where you're from, even better. I drink a lot of tea; maybe you know what I ought to try having tea with. For bonus points, I love natural materials like animal or plant fibers or wood or glass or steel or ceramic. I love the colors black and lavender, but if something already has a natural color then I love it. Prayer beads, any kind, are one of my favorite kinds of thing. I hope that's enough to go off of. Please don't be afraid to surprise me. I'm sure I'll love it.

WHAT IS UP SECRET SAM!! I do actually have a special request this year, Sam. I collect world folklore (and local legends/ghost stories/tall tales) in English or bilingual editions. Additionally, I collect musicals, rock operas, and narrative concept albums, in any language and of pretty much any quality. While I will appreciate any gift I get, something to add to either of these collections would be incredible. Other than that: I love local candies and snacks from anywhere that’s not the US (my only allergies are walnuts and pecans, but I’m not especially sensitive to cross-contamination and I don’t have this problem with any other nuts). NSFW/  okay—I live someplace where the weegle is legal. I’m a men’s size 2XL in shirts and largest available in socks.

HELLO! I have not been a good nor a bad bitch this year but I am a basic bitch. As such, I am always happy with tasty conditiments, uniquely flavoured chips/crisps, artisanal booze, etc. Also feel free to gift me music in formats I do not have the ability to play, such as vinyl, cassette, and CD. I collect these treasures in my storage locker and don't dare give them away for one day I will own a record player (gonna be honest though, probably not a cassette deck or cd player). I also like funky stickers and kooky stuff. But like all Decemberween celebrations, it's more fun for me in the giving than receiving, so if you're stumped, a Playstation voucher or a gift certificate for something like Revzilla would be greatly appreciated. If you live in Canada I would certainly enjoy products from your home garden, if you're in to that sort of thing. I'll ship internationally, but North America is preferred. |

Dear Sam! This is my first time writing a letter to you and I'm rather excited! I am writing to you from (the usually) sunny Portugal in Europe. I have no known allergies (thankfully!) and I wear unisex clothing in shirt size M, thanks for asking! What I like? Well, I love music of all sorts, I love handmade art, I love the color green, I love good novels, and I adore them warring fun fellows from the WH40K universe with the British accent, Da Orks! I also have a life long adoration towards video game company Sega. And I can name every single Pokemon there is up to gen 8 because I never grew up from that phase! Oh, and there's also my appreciation of Japanese indie music icon Miku. What I dislike? Uh, meat. Heavily sugared food, too. And non liberal ideas? I guess that's about it. Hope that's enough to let someone go wild creative! No opposition to any sort of theme, unless it's excessively NWS (and I mean, really excessive). Hello Santa. It's me, sb hermit. I am not allergic to anything. Please do not send me anything illegal, including (and especially) weed or drugs. I wear a US Men's size L. I love learning and reading about cool stuff and new stuff that you find fascinating. It could be astronomy, tarot, photography, philosophy, languages, and so on. Also, fiction old and new. I love old books, so if you want to stroll through your local bookstore and pick out cool stuff, that's cool with me. Keep in mind that you may be able to ship USPS media mail for it, but check and make sure. I love hand made stuff too. I also like video games old and new. I have a pc and a nintendo switch, among others. I enjoy a lot of stuff including horror games and indie games. Merry christmas, and I can write more if what I have isn't descriptive enough.

This is the first sentence of my letter to Sam, I really like pictures. You know, photos. Those things that you keep on your phone or SD card. Or CF card, which is about the size of a wallet photo, which I also like. Such a fun size of photo to make and play around with. So is a 4x5, and a 5x7, for that matter. 8x10s are getting pretty close to page-size and I love looking at pages of photos. Several pages of photos together almost reads like a story; a broad-arcing theme connecting them to one another. It's really fun to journey through photos in this broad-arcing theme. And journeys are great. I really love taking photos on my journeys and then looking at them later. Sometimes the photos get printed in interesting ways, and with interesting materials. Sometimes the photos I take are accompanied with stories about the photos. And sometimes those photos are put on a nice display. Or just anything that represents you and/or your life. I like learning about others.

hello my wonderful Sam! it's manifisto, you might not recognize me because some rapscallion has changed my avatar to something disrespectful. anyway, I am always happy to receive things that are crafty or arty or artistic or just handmade, or funny, or clever. edible gifts are good and fun, no allergies that I know of. hot sauces are of interest (mild medium or somewhat hot please, no scorching hellfire insanity), spices in general are cool, chocolate or other yummy candies are nice, really pretty much whatever (booze is okay, nsfw is fine, please don't send actual drugs though). something unique to your hometown or region is always a great idea. reading material is nice.
