Played the new VT2 map last night, part 1 of "Trail of Treachery", and it's really fun! It's a snowy map and all the rats have snow sorta sticking to their fur so things tend to camouflage. We got our asses kicked at presumably the final part of the map because of a couple particularly lovely special spawns. Cool map though!

For what it's worth I liked the map a ton. It does some interesting things and it's not terribly annoying for an escort quest.

The autonomous sleigh is really funny to me for some reason, like how it just ends up at the right place after we shoved it over a snowy hill.

The big thing that really helps build cooperation in this game is the coherence system. The best way to get the equivalent of your temp hp back is to be close to your buddies. Every class also comes with passive buffs to allies in coherency, so like the zealot gives damage boost, ogryn damage reduction, ect. It rewards starting near your teammates enough that I was a lot more mindful of where they were and getting with them

I do like this system. I'm not sure that the people who are going off on their own will fully understand this system and why it means they should stick with the team but it's definitely something they'll learn quickly!

I usually have at least 3 people in my group to play so most of the time we're only matchmaking in a 4th and it's far less of a pain to deal with one rogue person in a group who may or may not cycle out depending on how quickly they die.

Still have not beat the new VT2 mission. Every time I play it, people spread out during the cog section then ragequit when they get downed alone in the corner nowhere near the objectives.

Yeah we wiped once on the cog section, but it's really not too bad once you know where to look for them to show up. There's just two cogs you have to go bring up to the top and throw onto the place where it wants it (like you throw the barrels to blow up walls). The last area with the torches is really tough though. It's always annoying when the objective is something like "light a fire" and naturally the only valid source of fire comes from the single torch that Olyssia gives you.

The main problem is there's no waymark for the Torch when it's on the ground and so you can easily get it lost somewhere and have people not know where it spawns to pick it back up.

Yeah, for sure. I spent so much time walking up to each urn without the torch because the waypoint seemed like it was indicating you had to go to the urn to get the fire. Once we figured out she was throwing a torch in the center it was already too late and we were swarmed.

Performance was pretty bad for a lot of people including myself but I didn't really experience any bugs. I didn't play much more than half a dozen rounds or so though because I had gotten what I wanted out of that beta.

They did say that performance should be improved across the board now compared to what we saw in the beta so fingers crossed it'll be better. Check back with us in a couple hours :v:

Dude poo-poo's Ogryn's grenade box but it does shitloads of damage to bosses with a good hit and can kill/stagger specials. It is definitely a bit mid, it especially sucks that you only have one to use, but chucking it to delete a special with a well placed shot seemed pretty decent to me.

I'm playing with friends who aren't quite as experience at 'tide games, so I'm okay with playing a slightly weaker character with them if that is indeed the case.

It didn't seem too bad to me in the beta, like obviously he won't be as survivable as a max level Bardin but it felt alright to me. I'm all in on Ogryn either way :getin:

Also important to note; the ol' Fatshark revive trick is at play in this game too. If you're reviving someone, hold block as you're doing it. It won't look like it but you will be blocking attacks as you revive that person.

Keep in mind there are stat differences on each weapon you buy. I bought a club that had almost no damage on the chart but had better handling/mobility and it made a noticeable difference with how fast you could swing it.

I haven't played as the Psyker but my friend was and his head popping was extremely helpful. Especially when he would focus on the armored guys that normally take a while to kill. Does anybody else feel like the gameplay is a noticeable bit slower than during CBT? I do bit mean performance wise but with regard to animation speeds and being able to quickly get in and out of melee without using dodging.

While that is my impression I cannot rule out misremembering stuff.

I think a lot of this comes down to the variations in stats of the weapon types you're using. Keep an eye out for ones with better handling and I think they swing/block/recover faster but may do less damage. This was never a thing that you had to worry about in Vermintide because there weren't stat variations within the same weapon type but it seems to have a pretty big effect on that stuff in this game.

I remember thinking this in the last beta but I played a couple hours of VT2 after that and I think it feels mostly the same, just that the early/starter weapons all feel quite sluggish to throw around.

Edit: You can also tell the weapons that have high stamina will lengthen the stamina bar when you equip that weapon, switching back and forth while sprinting will let you see the difference it makes on the stamina bar. I kind of assumed that stat meant it would cost less stamina to use but it looks like it straight up increases the amount of stamina you have.

Huh? Have you tried the rippergun? I can shred groups at range pretty effectively before they close in. I guess I'm still playing on the easy difficulty so it's probably not extremely effective on the harder ones but Ogryn isn't going to be headshotting enemies from far away.

As good as the sound is I think they need clearer visual cues pointing you towards teammates in peril. It's really hard to tell sometimes when a teammate is trapped or is pinned/fell off a ledge. Maybe it's there already and I'm just not seeing it but I feel like when someone got hooked by a hook rat it had UI elements pointing you in that direction if you aren't looking towards them.
