Gamers have always looked to the future. Whether it's for the next release date, or planning how they'll be completing the next level, when a gamer sees the present they don't ask "why?" they ask "why not, the future?"

We're Already There
In some respects, games have already transitioned into the future. As early as the mid 2000s popular video game franchises such as World of Warcraft we're envisioning a level of information sharing and immersion whos potential still hasn't been fully realized

Meanwhile the Street Fighter series understands intuitively that in a future devoid of fossil fuel waste and cars that DON'T fly, the idea of a "street" is a quaint but outdated venue to hold a fight

Evolution Has Not Stopped

As gamers, we are shaped by the pull of biological evolution. Yet evolution itself is also shaped by our drive to game. What new evolutionary adaptations might come to be through the process of gaming?

And whos to say that gaming will only uplift the human species?

The Games of The Future...
What of the games of this new century and a half? For one, the games of the past still loo large and have not lost their cultural importance. But what if you can experience them all at once, foregoing the need to play them all individually? Like Neon of "The Matrix", gamers can simply plug in a chip and learn Kung Fu instantaneously, or instead maybe playthrough the entire Crash Bandicoot lexicon with the snap of a finger

New games too might benefit from such technology. Imagine playing all of your favorite games at once?

And what about the original "games" or "sports" as many have come to call them? A throwback to a time before SSDs, bits, rams, and graphics, these original games can be made finally desirable to those of us who want to connect to those more base and instinctual diversions of early man

...And the Consoles to Play Them
And what behemoths will power these next gen experiences? It may surprise you that not all will be so large after all. While some may be as large or larger than some ships, others will still fit comfortably in your home.

And while some may take up more space, even whole rooms, this is only to increase the stimulation and immersion by truly cutting the chord between the virtual and the real

These new consoles represent a new beginning and a plethora of possibilities. And we gamers are the proverbial chick ready to emerge from the egg out into a new world of gaming

Will We Ever Stop?
The short answer is: no we won't stop gaming at all in anyway. The gamification of society represents the ultimate triumph of pleasure over pain. Work will be a thing of the past as gamers put their skills to the real test of forming and shaping new industries

Even other leisure time activities will find themselves amplified and upgraded through the continuum of gaming

Gamers Have Conquered the World

Already we know as gamers that we are not just the future of mankind, but we are already the present. We hold the world in the palm of our hands and so all that's left is to ask "what's next?"
Space exploration?

Or maybe even the colonization of Mars?

Our future is looking as bright as an LED light

Those "skill game" gambling kiosks they have at poor grocery stores but while you play there's another screen showing an epic movie with morally grey characters
