A lot of star systems are binary so it probably happens all the time. Or do you just mean like when a planet in our solar system passes in front of a star in our night sky? Because that happens constantly.

OP you might be interested in this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stars_that_have_unusual_dimming_periods I know you mean like how one would see from within a different stellar system but we do get to see planets greatly eclipsing stars all the time and not just dimming it. Well, some of the time. Enough times.

Occlusion, in general, when a planet passes in front of the sun. (Or more generally, any object passing in front of another object, but we were talking about planets and the sun here.) Occultation, specifically, if the planet is large enough from your point of view to block out the sun entirely. Like if you are getting behind Uranus for example. Transit, if it is not. Like we can see Mercury or Venus do from here. Or like Earth does, seen from Mars.

I'm often caught throwing eyes at a hot dame across the food court when a very large man walks slowly through my visual perspective and once he has passed an old woman with bad teeth licking an ice cream is there instead. Also, we know space, we know what happens when you're there, and its quite safe. Now, astronauts. Cowards. Just tech people in a tech environment going safely to space to do tech things. Deep ocean trenches, Here, right now, on earth. Unexplored. Why? There were 135 Shuttle missions and 2 accidents. Thats safer than a hot dog eating contest.
