Winter weathers here in the Midwest and that means only one thing: time to get on down to the alley, downs some hot dogs, down some beers and bowl. For those of you not familiar with bowling: how? It’s the perfect sport for winter weather and is really just an excuse to get drunk as the snow piles up and lob 14 pound balls at a bunch of pins. Still learning the art so I figured this is a good place to share techniques, our favorite alleys and our favorite bowling beers.

I hate it when bowling alleys do the black light gimmicky stuff, like cosmic bowling or whatever, because I respond poorly to eccentric lighting and getting drunk is problematic Just keep it boring guys, thanks

My city has a great bowling alley in the centre. It has bowling, a full bar, food (burgs, curly fries, pizza etc, but also decent seating if you want to sit down and catch up over a basket of onion rings), loads of varied arcade games and is still decorated in a perfect 90's way. Great to catch up with friends over some beers and bowls. As it's in the UK we can also all easily get the bus or a taxi home after drinking. I have no depth perception so my favourite technique is to bowl really hard so the ball doesn't have time to curve into the gutter. We are all poo poo at bowling so sometimes I even win by trying this

Bowling would be fun if they had a variety of courses like with minigolf, or maybe if the ball was 1 meter in diameter and you needed 3+ people to push it. Please just change it up a bit or I'll be at the bar the whole time

i think you'll find most professionals use a 15 lb ball.. 16 is too heavy and 14 is too light with the current core tech.

My delicate computer wrists can only support a max of an 11lbs ball. I will not be having children due to my genetic patheticness. The only bowling alley within 30 minutes of me is closing soon. Wtf is wrong with WA state?
