I really hope they patch the poo poo out of the game to fix the performance issues a bit, because for a lot of people it seems to be overshadowing a really fuckin' great game. I myself don't really mind because I haven't set high standards for video games for myself; all I play is Pokemon and like Super Mario 64.
Last night I went to grab an item off the ground and as soon as I touched it a Spidops jumped out from behind a rock and attacked me. Coincidence? Or did the Pokemon set a trap? Really hoping it's the latter, that's such fun flavor to add.
Also since someone mentioned it I'm just saving and restarting every time I see one of those "should be an invisible object" Pokeballs on the ground, and I haven't run into any issues since.
One bug I did have (and I'm positive it was a bug and not me being really unobservant), is I got all of the purple-glowing "ominous black stakes" and it didn't open the purple vault. I know I got all of them. I looked at 3 different guides, one of which was a video, and stood exactly where they stood and matched up the scenery. Then last night I thought I'd have another go at checking, and the very first one on the hill right above the vault was back. I pulled it, and it opened the vault. Also I know the first time I pulled that one was fairly early in the game, it was one of the first ones I noticed, so my suggestion would be for people to just not touch the stakes until they're high enough leveled that they're ready to grab them all at once and tackle the legendary. Makes it easier to remember which ones you have and haven't grabbed, anyway.

This is very much a me/minor nitpick, but just coming off travel in past Pokemon games I'm... not really a fan of the presence of the Legendaries from the get-go as travel companions. It's interesting having just A dedicated travel pokemon, but the core of the games has always been your own party and partner choices, and Miraidon/Koraidon just feel a little too overly-present/reductive for me if that makes sense? I totally get why it's the case, but I feel something more interesting could've been done folding past travel pokemon concepts into an open-world game. Put the all-in-one Legendary mid/late game for consolidation as the cool thing to get, but add some other travel pokemon too like Gogoat or the Cyclizars. Maybe some are faster, or better jumpers, so if you want to go out on the water you're looking along the shoreline for something to ride on, or something to jump up a cliff face, that sort of thing.

To be clear I'm totally fine with it as-is and thoroughly enjoying it, just idle thoughts that something better could've been done with what's available.

I disagree; I really don't like how SuMo implemented it: "oh just call up this pokemon that's not yours and it appears instantly to help you for 5 seconds and leaves again". I really liked that in SV it was one pokemon, who you were travelling around with, that helped you out. The only good alternative I can think of is if the 3 starters all did this, but then all 3 would have to be motorcycles of some variety, which would have maybe made them too samey? Or maybe not, maybe that could have been a neat gimmick for this generation, but then you'd have to evolve them to stage 3 before the gimmick became usable (also not a huge dealbreaker except for people who don't want to use their starter pokemon I guess).
I don't know, in the end I think SV's solution was better. A story reason why you've got this guy sort of on your team but he doesn't battle. I never even considered him the "legendary" of the game, just a pal.
Still silly that you can't ride a regular Cyclizar at any point in the game.

I was going to wait til after the Charizard raid but gently caress it, I'm impatient, I want to play through the game again with an entirely different team and at a more leisurely pace. And we don't have access to Home yet, correct? Can anybody hang onto my legendaries and starter and one or two other guys, and then trade them back to me a couple hours later when I've unlocked trading?
In return, if you're a scarlet player, I can send you over some of the version exclusive/ paradox mons. Keep in mind that they're rare and I haven't even seen half of them spawn, but I can make an effort. PM if interested.

Unless you really need online access while you play through this second run, it'd be much easier to just make a second user on the Switch for a second save file - you don't need to link it to a Nintendo account, and HOME can see other users' saves while logged in on your main one.

Oh so even if Profile 2 doesn't have online access, I should be able to pull Pokemon off it and into Home when that comes out in the spring, using Profile 1's online access? Neat, I didn't think that was possible.

Go into that Pokemon's details, go to its moves (I think you gotta tab over one) and hit A; it gives you the option to change its moves at any point outside battle. They've done away with a lot of NPCs in favor of just letting you change poo poo whenever.

Charizard crashed once, lagged me into infinity where I couldn't move while my teammates did a couple times, and yeah, the health bar is a lie. Key to beating him is to have nobody die which takes big chunks out of the timer bar. Ended up catching one but it was about an hour and a half of waiting for three partners that knew what they were doing. If you were doing it live with friends (again, who knew what they were doing and you could talk to each other), it'd probably be easy.
Using Rain Dance as a strategy to nullify his Sunny Day fails spectacularly unless it forgets that it knows Hurricane.

Absolutely. I coulda just used, like, one little side-quest per area. Just rip off the PLA ones. I liked having to go find that girl who was constantly getting lost. That would push the player into the more obscure corners of the world. My biggest beefs with this game were that it didn't force me to go places and both times I played I felt like I missed out on areas/content that isn't as fun when you're already done the game and have a strong team, and that there's not near enough NPCs in the game that actually do anything. The human population of Paldea should have been doubled.

Anyone got any plans for how to deal with the upcoming Cinderace raid? It seems to me like once again Azumarill is ideal, but I see lots of whining about "ugh people bringing in fuckin Azumarill" and also once the raid Pokemon turns off your ability, as they always do at some point, Huge Power shuts off and Azu sucks until you die and come back, which isn't a great strategy when it hacks a big chunk off the time bar. I was thinking maybe Ceruledge for immunity to the high power fire and fighting attacks Cinderace'll be packing, and Clear Smog will gently caress with any stat-ups it uses... but Ceruledge doesn't exactly have much of an HP stat or physical defense. I'm also expecting Cinderace to be packing Sucker Punch.

There's a couple "loving WHY?" things like that in the game that I wish they spent more than 5 minutes thinking about. Not being able to picnic in Area Zero? Why? Weird game limitation or some dumb thematic idea that they didn't care would be annoyingly inconvenient?

poo poo like "you can't picnic while riding Miraidon" instead of it just automatically dismounting you... I don't know if that was an idiotic decision or just a clumsy way of getting around something that kept causing errors.

In the end I'm realizing I kinda hate the sandwich game too, not so much doing the game itself as always having to track down different ingredients, and just wish there was a restaurant at an endgame location that served a menu that contained basically every power across it. Fine, don't include the shiny ones for "specialness" reasons, I kinda stopped giving a poo poo about shiny pokemon last gen anyway.
