I watched Jay Forman's new YouTube video on the Tube Map, and at one point it's revealed that the guy playing Harry Beck is actually Jago Hazzard doing a cameo, and all I could think is that Twisto should have been in there as a premier obscure London facts content creator too. So sad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaEhvWXmLyk

I find it weird how much pirating has dropped out of fashion. I quite often see people saying they can't watch so-and-so TV service because they don't pay for whatever service. Just loving it. I do more than my bit for the corporate TV industry, paying for Netflix, Amazon Prime, NowTV, Disney+, and Apple TV+. No, I'm not paying for Paramount+ or Starz or whatever. And a bunch of stuff doesn't even come out here in any fashion in a timely manner. Most of the ones I do pay for are because I have a fancy TV and it's a hassle to find downloads for, and stream to my TV 4K HDR content. As always, if you're reasonably priced, and it's actually more convenient than pirating, then I'm happy to pay. But they take the piss, so to I go.

Elden Ring is significantly easier than every other Soulsborne game because with so much to do it’s easy to go off exploring whenever you get stuck. You’ll come back at a higher level and probably with fancy new gear too. In most other Souls games you’re often stuck down one main route, and if you’re stuck you have maybe one or two alternatives to try which are also balls hard. And it’s that or mindlessly re-run over previous areas to grind.

Currently big into Islamic conservatism, constantly posting about how traditional gender roles are great and LGTBQ+ is the worst and actually the Taliban are a great bunch of lads and the rest of it. Certain people get involved in the left out of contrarianism, basically. I didn’t think much of Utopia back at the time. I don’t want to be all hipstery but I was put off by anti-vax poo poo before it was cool. Also, the premise was just weirdly incredibly dated. I think if I said the words “graphic novel, internet chat room, government conspiracy” out loud I’d open a portal directly to 1996. I should probably do that and buy shares in arms manufacturers before 9/11.

https://twitter.com/campbellclaret/status/1611380942144405504 I absolutely do not want to hand it to Alistair loving Campbell, but I found this interesting. Having the arch-deacon of lovely liberalism come out in favour of trans rights is quite significant, I think. These people define themselves as being culturally against whatever the people they don’t like are culturally for, and if the hard right are going all in on transphobia this forces liberals to be more supportive of trans people. Mentioning Anita Arkeesian above makes me think that this reminds me of Gamergate actually. While it was horrible, I think it did have the side benefit of forcing the games industry/media to take a side, and not many wanted to be on the side of the psychopaths. The current trans panic may lead to a similar situation.

Reveilled posted:I'm not so sure it's about our hard right, to be honest. Trans rights is an area where our lovely liberals have a hard divergence from America's lovely liberals, so this might be more reflective of the circles which Campbell moves in being more americanised than your average guardian journalist's group of pals and twitter followers. The US right going transphobic makes it even more powerful for UK liberals. They feel a lot worse about calling the Tories who attend their dinner parties monsters than the uncouth people who share the exact same opinions on the other side of an ocean.

Ironically, I’ve heard that Keith genuinely is a huge football fan, really into it and everything, in comparison to Corbyn who far more casually supports Arsenal. But because he’s such a weird robot man no one believes it, while Jeremy seems like a real person so everyone buys that he’s Arsenal to the bone.

Theoretically I think a "digital currency" run by the state is a very good idea. The state controls the printing of bank notes and minting of coins, but in classic style, when it comes to doing this electronically it's all been handed over to private companies, who always take their cut. Things like debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal etc simply shouldn't exist, the state should administer the use of money. That you need to have a bank account with a recognised bank in order to buy something without a pile of metal or paper is terrible, and even worse that on top of that you also need to hand all your information to yet another company to buy many things over the internet. And of course, this lock-in is also used to pressure you into credit cards, i.e. debt. It's even bad for retailers as they have to pay a toll to these companies just for the consumer to find it more convenient. Obviously though, I wouldn't trust the Tories to actually do this well for a second. I'm sure that this is just the dregs of crypto-madness seeping into their broken minds. Anyway, check out how incestuous our media is: https://twitter.com/brokenbottleboy/status/1622717771212619778
