I think this thread recommended AirVPN one time and they've served me well for years - and I think they have a strict no-cooperation policy with data requests and don't keep any logs of activity.

My nephews both have the Switch but for some reason they're obsessed with Super Mario Land 2 on Game Boy whenever I'm looking after them and they have access to my vast retrogaming collection. No idea why this game in particular has had them gripped for literally years.

I got a Steam Deck delivered by Evri just before Christmas - got a picture of the box sitting on the pavement outside my house and couldn't get home for another five hours.

Thankfully no-one had pinched it but jeeeeeez.

I hope that's a joke.
Though if it's not it might mean that the techbros all Darwin award themselves into extinction. So on reflection I'm in favour.

See also Hawkwind.
Who with the recent addition of Thighpaulsandra means that I get to see a band including members of my two favourite bands (HW and Coil).

Hah I lived next door to thighpaulsandra when I was a kid. Great guy, always used to get me free tickets to Spiritualized gigs and to festivals they played at. Glad he's doing okay.

That's really cool. He certainly seems to be doing really well.
His solo material is absolutely bonkers in the best way, modular synth weirdness that leaps from avant-garde modern classical to ultra heavy krautrock in a single track. Though his tendency to push the envelope of taste so hard that it inverts frightened Julian Cope so much that he was kicked out of his band. It looks like no one has been brave enough to put up the most explicit homoerotic sadomasochist sleeve photos* on Discogs yet. (Hmm new project...?) The insert with a fully erect full frontal nude in Double Vulgar II along with lyrics about spilling his seed on the back seat of the Variety Club Sunshine coach etc. was probably the last straw for poor St Jules.
*There's a hilarious story about some guy visiting his farm while the rest of Coil were there and being greeted by a scene of John Balance just chilling out in the sun watching their nude dancers the Anarcocks practise moves while Sleazy and Thighpaulsandra were busy doing a photo shoot in one of the barns and deep in conversation about whether or not the model needed more viagra and/or fake blood.

Lmao that farm is literally where I lived for ten years with Tim in the house next door.

We eventually swapped houses with thighpaulsandra at one point and when I went back to visit him he'd turned it into a freaky s&m art gallery. There were mannequins with kitchen knives stuck into them in the hall.

I should get back in touch.

So cool. Genuinely jealous of your propiniquity to such an interesting creative dude.
I'm guessing that your family had nothing to do with the dodgy name he uses when crediting it as his studio.
For the curious it's Golliwog Farm.

The actual name is Gelliwion Farm, so he's doing a play on that. Thoooough tbh not the greatest name he could have picked.

Now I'm reminded of Liquid Sky - full thing on youtube. That was a weird film. An alien creature invades New York's punk subculture in its search for an opiate released by the brain during orgasm. I have a vague memory of dinner plate sized space ships and shard of glass when the orgasms happened. Must give it another watch seeing as Saturday night tv is so crap. As is Friday night and Monday night.

This panel seems a bit orange. I remember the film as being more blue shades. But that was 40 years ago too.

The version on YouTube is quite heavily censored and cut down. Full fat Liquid Sky is much better.

TBH I was disappointed we didn't get more Dig A Pony. Beatles Rock Band is probably what made me really appreciate a lot of Let It Be tracks like that one and I Me Mine.

Beatles Rock Band was really great.

I dug that out a year ago and was delighted to find there's a tiny fan community on a mission to put every Beatles song in the game - with visuals

The Guardian has an article in which one of their writers experiments with veganism (https://www.theguardian.com/food/2023/feb/27/my-body-resists-veganism-whats-the-most-ethical-alternative)

"I allowed myself two eggs each day, and some minor deviations (I didn’t worry if I was given butter for my toast, didn’t query the details of Thai sauces and stayed with my usual fish oil tablets)."
