Like the title says, I’m looking for Robot/Mech games, or games with cyborgs, you name it, I’m looking for it. It doesn’t matter what platform it is, any system will work! Please send me recommendations on what to play. Include any cutesy/funny/parody games as well, just note that they are one of these types.

Mainframe Defenders?

What makes a game a true Robot/Mech game in your opinion? I have (Customizable Units/That lose function due to damage/heat and or energy management) for my definition. Mainframe Defenders only hits the first and last one, but it hits them hard.

Hell Gem
I mean MW4M is still the best Mechwarrior game and you can get it here: https://www.moddb.com/games/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries/downloads/mw4-mercs-mektek

To get it working on modern machines you just have to delete the "Assets\Binaries\imagehlp.dll" file

If you want to emulator some older games, all of the Front Mission titles are awesome. Also get yourself a PlayStation 3 and pick up Armored Core V on PSN.

A lot depends on what you want.

For turn based strategy, there's Into The Breach. You get full information at the start of a turn, and the goal isn't to kill every enemy, but to keep the endless hordes of bugs under control until you survive for enough turns. Buy upgrades by saving people and find them in random pods sent from other doomed timelines. And when you lose?

Start again, sending one of your pilots back into the past to try to save mankind.

For high speed action, Zone of the Enders 2 is a classic. You're the best pilot in the solar system, in the ultimate prototype, going up against massive armies of BAHRAM drones and their city sized superweapons. You fire off screen filling homing lasers, with free high speed 3D movement, and can even use your enemies as weapons in classic beat 'em up style.

Zone of the Enders 2 is basically a game made up entirely of parts that would make cool demos at Blockbuster. Not all of them work, (correct your direction) but when they do, it's amazing.

If you want to get in on what's going to be the biggest mech game coming down the pipes, though, that's probably going to be next year's Armored Core 6. There's a thread about the older games in retro, but in summary, you're a mercenary, and you spend your paychecks customizing the ultimate mech, picking weapons, boosters, anti missile systems, targetting computers, and more to get your AC just right, keeping in mind that you're going to have to pay for every bullet you fire and every hit you take.

It's by From, the Souls studio, and it shows a lot of the same DNA. Vague plots, customizable builds, poison swamps.

Those should be a start, at least. Anything else you're looking for beyond "mechs"?

THUNDERDOME LOSER
Riftbreaker is pretty cool, and on Gamepass.

It's a mix of tower defense, survival and isometric action. The Mech has a variety of upgrades and different weapons and the base building is simple and serviceable.

super robot wars is a series of mecha crossover games with pretty basic srpg gameplay but really cool animations and writing. a fair number of them are fantranslated, v, t, and x have official translations that you have to import from asia, and super robot wars 30 is on steam. they're all crossovers of actual mecha anime/occasionally mecha games and manga.

super robot wars w on the ds is fantranslated and has og voltron in it (or well, golion, but golion is just the anime voltron was a dub of)

A Mech style game in my opinion is like battle tech or armored core, not really looking for turn based but I’ll play those as well.

Also robot games like MegaMan or transformers fall of Cybertron are ones I’m looking for as well. If someone has a list of the retro games for NES, SNES, genesis, Etc. I’d be grateful!
