Yeah! If Armored Core 6 comes out this year, that will likely be my Game of the Year. Biggest disappointment of 2023 will likely either be Starfield, or Diablo IV.

This too. So many Souls fans are going to just buy it and not understand the game. They are going to think they are getting a Souls game, but it won't be that at all.

I want to be excited for Diablo IV, but it's $70 - $100 on top of a battle pass and cash shop. They are going all in on the fear of missing out cosmetics, and it's super exploitative and really ruins any excitement I would normally have about Diablo. Why can't I just buy a game and get all of the content right then and there? Why does this need to be a Games as a Service title? I just want to buy it, and then buy a story expansion once a year or two that adds new classes.

I think this is suppose to be a sandbox survival/crafting game in the Star Wars universe. There was a rumor about it a few years ago.

So, verizon just effed us over, we were supposed to have internet set up today ahead of the full move to the new house this weekend, sadly, it looks like it will be at least the 20th before it gets set up.. so I'm frantically trying to make sure I have everything updated on Steam, and to download a bunch of games from the backlog of shame on Steam to play. I'll be without home internet for a few days, until my phone mobile data plan switches to Unlimited with tethering (but even that's going to be throttled to gently caress and back).

They don't have a setup yourself option? I went that route myself with Xfinity, because I know their customer service is basically that they have no customer service. Verizon is the same way.

Is there an emulation thread somewhere I'm not seeing? Or is it a against the rules or something? I wanted to try the PS3 for the first time with The Last of Us but running into some issues.

Make sure you're running the nightly build of the PS3 emulator. But also, the Last of Us is marked as a game that you can get in-game with, but has problems and likely can't really be played from start to finish. No one is bothering with this one because it's on modern systems and soon is releasing for PC. Also read this https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=The_Last_of_Us it might be helpful.

Get a Pocket, it's really god drat cool. Besides just supporting GB/GBC/GBA games with hardware emulation, so it's near perfect, it also supports Genesis, Game Gear, Super Nintendo, NES, Atari, NeoGeo Pocket, Intellivision, and some other stuff. And the screen on it is crazy beautiful looking.

Yeah! From everything I read, the Pocket really goes the extra mile to fix every issue that other 3rd party handhelds have. As for Wario, I love the character a lot. His personality, how he looks, its just so cool and funny to me. He is really cool, and I love the gameplay of the Wario games. I really want a modern day Wario platformer that is like Mario Odyssey, but with action combat and destruction, because that is on brand for Wario.

I really wish the openFPGA cores didn't default to that sickly green and let you use the pretty display features that the main OS does. It's supposed to be coming eventually but I'm dying over here.

Yeah progress on openFPGA has been surprisingly slow. This is mainly because it's all being developed under the table by Analogue, but it's one of those "if you heard this is true, no you didn't" thing. This weekend I want to figure out how to create my own game for Pocket, it's suppose to be pretty easy?

Jesus, that thing is $220???

It's worth it because it's hardware emulation. So it's as close to accurate as you can get outside of the official hardware. The trade off is that the chips necessary are also in demand by like the entire tech industry. So making more Pockets is absurdly difficult due to the pandemic and an overwhelmingly huge backlog that only a handful of chip manufacturers are taking care of. But yeah, I wouldnt really recommend this unless you're really passionate about retro gaming and gaming preservation. The Pocket in my opinion is one of the most important devices out right now for video game preservation.

apparently super easy to get goin

Yeah it's just a disclaimer to protect Analogue's asses. Secretly it can play ROM files and this is the recommended method.
