They should make an actual open world walking simulator LOTR game. Actually I'm surprised they haven't made a multiplayer survival game or something out of it. Scrounge for potatoes and stealth around ringwraiths or whatever.

I could see an open world LOTR game where you can Dark Souls style invade other games as Gollum and gently caress with the people playing, it's the only time I could see people wanting to be him.

Pre-Release Apologies is where it's at.

Hand written apology letters would be a nice pre-order add-on.

I replayed Transistor.

You know what? I played this all wrong the first time around. The Turn() system is completely optional, and you can just play it in real time and be fine. In fact, you're kind of encouraged to do this in NG+; the last function you unlock has a passive mode that lets you heal while in real time. Spark(Purge, Tap) can melt most normal enemies, and you can deal with the big health-pool fuckers if you chain up a couple of Voids to debuff them. Also, the Switch power is a bit fiddly on its own, but you can apply it as a modifier to Ping and just have instant enemy conversion whenever you like. There's a lot more of this game in Hades than I'd previously realised.

I love Transistor, for whatever reason it will always be my favorite game, it just clicked with me so much I played it through a second time immediately when I never replay anything ever.

Odyssey rules and Kassandra is the best. The Fate of Atlantis DLC is good but the game itself is already so hugely packed that I'd recommend waiting till you finish the main game and decide if you still want to play more. Do NOT get Legacy of the First Blade, it's loving awful and quite frankly deeply insulting.... and that's the "better" edited version I played after the initial release got such enormous pushback.

Edit: the game forces a husband onto Kassandra and makes her retire from adventuring and have a baby, completely ignoring whether she has been played as gay or straight, ignoring anything she did in the main game in relation to her family, and included some really, really, really tone deaf achievement names around her "love" and having a kid that pissed off a hell of a lot of people. That's bad enough, but the "love interest" is also a complete Milhouse of a character, utterly devoid of any charm, personality or interest and so anything involving Kassandra's emotional reactions to him just fall completely flat.

If they were going to do this the only way I would be on board is if it was Brasidas

BG3 has some of the best itemization in recent RPGs, imo. Lots of fun stuff to muck around with. It's actually nuts how much of an improvement it is over DOS 1/2.

Yeah picking up new items all the time and immediately thinking "Oh I can't use this atm but I could make a build that does fun poo poo with it, maybe I should respec" is a sign of a good loot system.

Old console games ran at 60 fps.
30 fps is a relatively modern garbage rear end trend.

Half Gamecube games ran at 30, same with N64 and PS2. So I guess it depends on what you mean by modern.

I don't think it has anything to do with intelligence - the human brain seems to be easily exploited by systems like these (unless you're lucky enough to be more resilient to them) and the companies not only know it, they bet on it. That's why the whole microtransaction model even works to begin with!

Yeah, like I love going to the casino. The thing is while sitting at that slot machine I know everything about it is engineered to trick my lizard brain. I actively sit there thinking wow it's doing these noises/sites to gently caress with me but I don't get up. I bring a limited amount of cash when I go, basically don't ever believe you are above being manipulated.
