My district sent out like 5 super long emails about our commitment to democracy and counseling kids in these troubled times Truly no child I spoke with cared/understood it and most were aping the behavior modeled by their parents

Lots of kids below late high school don't have the processing/experiential capacity to attach a lot of weight to events like Jan 6th or 9/11, so they model the behavior of adults and use those to guide their responses. I mean, lots of adults clearly also don't have the skills to process big political events, but expecting a child to do so is begging to be disappointed.
