Rick: Feb 23, 2004; When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.

Last year's trade deadline minigame is returning.

Name 4 players you think will get traded after your post but before the trade deadline which is February 9th at 12:00 PM Pacific. Once a player is traded you can no longer pick them but you can keep playing until the deadline. You can change your picks until the deadline but please make another post saying you did so just in case I already entered them.

You get

+01: For a correctly named player.
+03 Bonus point if between (and including, to clarify) 5 and 1 other people mentioned this player
+09: Bonus points if no one else mentioned this player.
Experimental: +06: If you nail at least three players.

So 10 if you submit a unique name, 4 if you submit a semi unique name, 1 for a name everyone else guesses. But even if it's all commonly guessed names, if you nail three picks, you will get a total of 9 points at least.

Thanks to all the advice from last year's thread and collaboration with Kibner this will no longer be me counting all the results by hand, which means my capacity for participants has increased. But since we are actively putting this together, results might not be as instant this year and probably won't come until after the event.

Golly for some reason no one predicted this highly predictable turn of NBA events well 100% for sure saw coming 48 hours ago. But Kyrie Irving, Dorian-Finney Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie are off the table.

Thanks for enlisting my help! It's been pretty fun and a good excuse to learn and try out a few different techniques.

For everyone else, my hope is to spend the next offseason or two enhancing this so that it is just a website you can visit, put in your predictions, and see a live leaderboard. We'll see if I maintain the longterm interest required to do all that. lol

That is a good idea. I also have been thinking maybe just posting one name public and the rest secret next time, with maybe the opposite scoring in that the most popular posted name that gets traded gets 10 or something.
