More and more I get frustrated about the increase in nationalism in the entire political spectrum. Tribalism of all kinds sounds silly to me. I see all humans as just that, humans. I don't care where you were born. I don't care if you were born close to me either. I don't care which geographic region rules me. Ideally it should be the entire world. And yet when I tell people this, they think I am insane. Think I don't care about people at all. I don't get this thinking. Why did we all lose the dream of something like Star Trek? The dream of a world government? In which we identify as human instead of American or whatever? Why did seemingly everyone lose track of that?

for capitalism, immigration and offshoring of labor is about increasing exploitation which leads to immiseration of many domestic workers projects like the EU and the euro demonstrably lead to less sovereignty and democratic input of workers, since it is primarily driven by the interests of capitalists. see: greece 'nationalism' is a capitalist response to these problems since it appeals to domestic workers who are immiserated or are worried about these issues because these issues are actually immiserating them or causing economic anxiety, but it redirects the anger away from the capitalist system and celebrates the capitalists as the savior

also where nationalism refers to the belief in the superiority of your people over others, the vast majority of western liberals are nationalists and generally see no problem with the west constantly couping, bombing, and genociding nonwestern peoples even if their bleeding heart spews otherwise see: juan guaido, bolivia, ukraine, yemen, libya, syria, etc.

Globalism as executed is bad for the reasons stated above., But the idea of an integrated, internationalist system of equal players is great. The principle isn't bad at all, and it's better to have international laws than not, but sadly capital captured internationalism. (or more likely, always had it outside the communist sphere). AceOfFlames, in some respects, rightwing workers are less delusional than some liberals. they recognize the capitalist mode of immigration and offshoring are actually abysmally terrible for a lot of domestic workers. right next to the demagogues pinky-promising to fix this are the liberals on the other side of the overton window championing this very exploitation. it's really easy to see why people would get swept up in rightwing movements. i've met some liberals that refuse to recognize this exploitation of domestic workers and argue it helps them. but on the whole, it's mostly the well-to-do, politicians, and capitalists that push this rhetoric. but this causes this hilarious and comedic tension that you can see in the male hillary vs female trump clip. liberal workers in general hate the offshoring exploitation, so the liberal politician is trying at the same time to be for and against it, looking the fool standing next to the rightwing nationalist.
