The Heiyue trading company sign does indeed say Heiyue trading company (the sign is basically readable as Japanese, besides that you don't pronounce 黒月 Heiyue in Japanese. In fact if you're playing the game in Japanese it just repeats the writing from the sign in the text box when you go to the door so you're left to infer the pronunciation from the fact that 公司 indicates a Chinese company)

Also the wholesale sign certainly got an improvement from previous releases, though, at least you can just use your imagination here instead of having to think that it looks almost but not quite like an actual word.

- "These people all have stories and we have to find their stories. We have to learn! Especially about this guy. This newspaper guy with the weird sleeves." :laffo: See you in two hundred hours.
- There's a lot of dialogue, so Falcom doesn't update it as often as it does when there are fewer people to write for.
- That place by the water in the Residential District is a spot for fishing - in Azure.
- I have checked to see how broken you could make the casino. The short answer is that you can't.
-- Technically, you can make "free money" by gambling and winning tokens to exchange for prizes which you could sell... but the time investment isn't worth it. If you're looking to make money, it's way faster to simply kill monsters and trade in sepith.
- The Bunny Girl almost never has any dialogue changes, and I don't recall her having interesting dialogue.
- No one ever stays in the... (what does the compass say?) the west room of Hotel Millenium in Zero, so you never have to check that one, ever.
- Garante sells cocktails. If I recall, the recipe for Shiny Blue is one of the last recipes you can learn.
- I don't think the holes in the ground with the bricks mean anything at all.
- There's a very, very interesting quest from Imelda you can get late in the game if you have enough DP, so try not to miss many points.
- You can never go up the stairs in the newspaper building, and Tria always says the same thing if you go behind the counter to talk to her.
- "Randy is ready to BE 'Die Hard' 24/7." Analyzing... No lies detected.
- I don't buy many of the vending machine items, but a couple on hand are occasionally handy if someone is almost at 100/200 CP and you want them to use an S-Craft.

You think Zero's final dungeon is long, of all things? I'm pretty sure it's the shortest in this franchise. Seems more like falling off the game right at the end to do other stuff and not feeling like finishing it.

I think Cold Steel 3 easily has the shortest final dungeon in the franchise by a wide margin. I think part of the burnout might be because of the optional achievement for beating the game below a certain level, as attempting that makes it a painful slog.

You can get 1000 medals payout from poker reasonably reliably (I included a strategy in the tips I forwarded), so you could get one set of stuff from winning a few hands. Although yeah, the benefits from the new armor probably aren’t enough to be worth spending the time playing poker to get enough medals to equip everyone.

Good to know, because a chapter later on has a handful of quests with additional or alternate dialogue if you hold off on starting them until a certain point in the story.

I'd have to assume it doesn't particularly matter, but maybe something will come up with the sidequest that presumably exists in that building. None of the Japanese LPs I looked at for this part had the player reading every piece of game text out loud, unfortunately.

One thing I love about the Crossbell games is how incredibly smart each of the core 4 are in different ways. It's still pretty subtle but you can definitely see the start of this group filling their roles.

-Lloyd is great at making connections and drawing conclusions in addition to his detective qualifications

-Elie knows her way around politics (which comes with the added perk of knowing how decisions will play out to an extent) and excellent at deducing motives

-Randy is surprisingly proficient at reading people and thinks outside the box

-Tio knows everything else and can Orbal Google whatever she doesn't

- Michaud is a student, which explains why he's in the cheap housing of the Downtown District.
- CP does go up slow at the start, but there is a craft and a spell which help. In a couple of chapters, you can sandbag in battles vs outdated enemies to rapidly boost your CP up to 200. Or just rest at the Millenium hotel for 200 CP.
- Geofront Monster Exterminations - and there aren't all that many - are always at former boss locations.
- This was the first game in the series to use the +/- 25%/50% Stat buff/debuffs familiar from Cold Steel.
- The four you have are the core. You'll almost always have all four of them available. Lloyd will always be mandatory, of course.
- For the imminent upcoming Lloyd solo battle, I think I gave him an HP 1 and Evade 1, plus one of the +5% Evade pinwheels from the East Street.
- I should note that when urgent requests come up, you have time to return to the SSS HQ to report quests. It's a good practice, as you'll get paid, and you could also possibly get promoted and receive a bonus.

- Hey, Rean did the "I can sense people" thing nearly as quickly into Cold Steel and Tio has a much better excuse for why she's able to do that.
- Both those vacant rooms you inspected will have occupants from the start of Chapter 1 on.
- It was actually the early phase of Cold Steel II where your physicals keep missing if you lack Hit quartz. And in this game it's not nearly as bad.

I like that neither Randy nor Tio give a crap about professional ethics, and Ellie's already used to bending the rules to get things done. 3/4 of the SSS already down for reasonable bribes.

It's very confusing that the Saber Viper's headquarters has a gecko drawn on it rather than a snake.

Crossbell has the Deluxe Criminal package, (2) delinquent gangs packaged with the purchase of a primary criminal mafia. And of course, the actual criminals would never be caught dead in a shithole downtown.

A Big Dummy Lloyd run sounds pretty fun, considering how often the game wants you to roleplay him as bigbrain. Just a constant stream of Tio glares, Ellie sighs, and Randy saying 'sall good, no worries bro!

This is before Cold Steel, so they hadn't broken up things into "there are questing segments and main story segments and ne'er the two shall meet" sections.

- The "Multiplier of 3.0 or more" is actually one which likely requires specifically trying to get it. I think one way I did it was to remove all the weapons from characters and farmed things like triple counters or cancelling arts. It's a good idea to also go for a triple battle chain at the same time.
- If you want to avoid leaving surprise three hour videos for yourself, here's a tip: When the time of day turns to sunset, with the screen filter and all, returning to base to end the day often triggers a bunch of cutscenes - sometimes with a pause where you get enough control to save, but not always.

- It shouldn't surprise you, but even this early, it's already impossible for you to reach Detective First Class. This game has a very, very small margin for top rank.
- Full disclosure: I make mistakes on these kinds of questions all the time, I just make frequent saves and reload after I screw up.
- I think Elie just means that she's used to dealing with people who have various types of personalities.

- Winning the fight (without lowering the difficulty) is a little tricky, you need to heal and hold off on S-Crafts until he's under 50% HP, but it's possible. You really do want an HP 1 quartz on Lloyd for Tear, though. You were warned well in advance of a tough solo fight.
- If you want Lloyd to dodge better, then you should have equipped him with an Evade 1 and a Pinwheel from that shop on East Street.
- S-Crafts always interrupt casting. I'm pretty sure that's true in all the games.

- The shift schedule is handy if you want to track down Bracers to talk to. They move around a lot and can be hard to find.
- Missing the structure of the Church one makes some sense because it's not something which gets talked about as much.
- It's a little pity about just missing the free Action 1 quartz, but you can get a free one next chapter by fishing up an Eel and giving it to Coppe.

Despite Zero/Azure largely using the same buff/debuff/ailment mechanics that Cold Steel does (unlike the weird mess that was Sky...), there's one significant difference that you can spot in your battle with Wald here: In Cold Steel, the turn you start casting is a 'free turn' that does not decrement the turn counter or trigger any end-of-turn effects like Poison. In Zero/Azure, they count the same as any other turn. So, for example, if you start your turn with a 3 turn SPD+ and cast an Art, by the time the Art is done casting you only have 1 turn SPD+ left. This also means that it's impossible to refresh your buff with a self-target Art if you have 1 turn left on it before you start casting! This took me a while to get used to.

This is also why Fortuna is kinda cumbersome in Zero. You can cast it twice, raise your ATS stat to the max and pump out ONE boosted attack art and then you don't even have enough turns left to renew your buff before it runs out. They buffed Fortuna's ATS buff to 5 turns in Azure as a band-aid solution, but it wasn't until Cold Steel that they introduced the "charging turn is not a real turn" mechanic.

I think the reason you got the question about "how do the Testaments know it was the Saber Vipers" wrong was because you were slightly overthinking it. The question was not "How could we prove, in a court of law, that the Saber Vipers were responsible." It was "What evidence would make these (not terribly brainy) gang members presume it must have been the Saber Vipers." (I got this question wrong my first time too.)

When you lowered the difficulty, you beat Wald in roughly 26 turns - including casting and Wald's posturing which does nothing.

Re: The hidden quest. Yeah, some of the hidden quests in this duology are bullshit to find. This one had a tell because the city dialogue had changed, but I recall there being some quests in Azure which appear after a main plot point happens which does NOT change city dialogue - only in one room somewhere have things updated, but because dialogue hasn't updated in most places, you wouldn't think to check every room on the map even if you are talking to all NPC's.
