Hi everyone. In my local discord, each time 9 chickweed lane gets brought up, there’s a lot of weird reaction around it and people seem to really enjoy this comic that I can’t make heads or tails of. I did some google image searching and it matches what I’ve seen. It looks like it’s just weird slice of life stuff staring incredibly ugly looking people (unless this is just a style decision). The illustrator also has trouble drawing the correct amount of teeth for people and for the life of me I don’t know if this is just lazy drawing or something more sinister/carnal. Maybe I’m missing something very obvious here. If the goon discord has a lot of fans, chances are at least 5-6 smart GBS’ers know what I’m talking about and why this comic is so widely liked. To preemptively defend myself, I’m not being old man yells at clouds about this.

He had a long story line about a lady having copious amounts of sex with sexy nazis in ww2. And another one about how hot it was that his main characters were having sex in front of their toddler children. And a long running bit about a middle aged lady and her teenage daughter having conversations in public about how incredibly sexy they felt wearing animal print underwear. Also pretty much everything about his gay characters is horrible.

My favorite storyline in 9CL is when, during pride month, the one gay character is revealed to actually be super horny for his homophobic female coworker. They then proceed to have sex for the next few weeks but only in their dreams, which takes place in a white void much like the rest of the strip so you’re never really sure what’s actually happening and what’s not actually happening. Anyway, the story ended with him getting engaged and breaking up with his boyfriend who turns out to be horny for the old man priest that marries them and also suspiciously looks like the artist himself. Oh there was also the storyline about Amos turning into a child and then Edda launches herself off a swing set, turns into a super hero, and then goes into the future to talk to her now grown daughters about how awesome it is to have sex with their dad. And let's not forget the 9CL storyline that flashed back to World War II and informed us that the Nazis only lost because they were too "honorable" to fight dirty. There are many reasons this comic is no longer welcome in the newspaper comic strip thread.
