quote:Almost half of the IT people work underhand, without a work book, and officially registered employees often receive 40–60% of their salary in envelopes, follows from accounting documents. Between themselves, Prigozhin's employees discuss that in addition to the white salary in other companies, "there is something that we do not have and will not have": a flexible start of the working day, medical insurance, bonuses. Former employees also complain about the "climate in the team" - in particular, mutual intrigues. Uncompetitive working conditions may explain the low level of education among IT specialists of Prigozhin's structures. Qualified specialists can hardly withstand Prigozhin's spontaneous micromanagement and rudeness - many had moved to "unfriendly" countries even before the start of the war. Now I can't stop imagining a reboot of Hogans Heroes, only this time it's the IT Crowd trying to stay alive as they work to foil the plots of an evil mastermind who kills people off screen with a sledge hammer. Every episode our low level techie pragmatists have to dodge getting executed for failing him for the last time. <Queue Laugh Track>. The violance is as bad other British Comedies like The Young Ones.

Taerkar posted:Also some M2s had bullet deflectors installed on the corners so that the sponson MGs could ricochet bullets off of them and into trenches as the tank drove along them. Pre-WW2 US army wargames came down to "Who has the most points at location X wins" and you got points for having more weapons. So they pretty clearly built the tank like you build a custom made Battlemech - fit as many guns as you can on to each single vehicle so you can roll more d6's damage. And always bring a ton of ammo. Per gun.

Crossing the Dniper would break the Russian defence and unhinge all their defensive lines to be useless and outflanked. Saying there’s good tank country elsewhere is what the French army thought in 1940- there was but it was all a feint to draw the defenders away. And I can’t think the Russians defending the river are very deep or good troops- why put your best defence somewhere the enemy is not going to go? Also its the best place the Ukrainian air support can probably be used and the worst one for Russian air- being further away from any of the Russian air bases and the ones in Crimea easy to hit. I guess we’ll find out by next month or so? When’s the mud going to be gone by?

Is there a Dracinfel video about this?

Ukraine will needs boots in the Crimea to take it. Once they break through the narrow defence at the neck, nothings going to stop an armored advance all the way to Sevastopol. Blowing the bridge will be part of it, but only the beginning. Once they break through (using Helicopters to out flank it) it will fall very quickly. Who wants to be the last Mobik defending something that's going to fall?

Shaman Tank Spec posted:After the war everyone basically sat up and took notice, and realized that while the Sherman wasn't the best tank in any kind of Top Trumps way, it was the best tank in that it was easy to mass produce, and very easy to repair and maintain in the field. NATO-adjacent countries have basically designed their tanks since World War II with the same principles in mind, and you can just basically pull the entire engine out of most modern tanks quite simply and just plug in a replacement, and the same for many other components. When did the British tanks start doing this? I recall a lot of stories of the British having the best tanks in Europe...so long as it broke down in a good firing position.

He doesn't have to run a country, he can just lounge around and torture people on Moscow's buck. The flip side of that is, there's plenty of Chechens who hate that he is Moscow's goon and a disgrace to his people, and who would be very happy to murder him if he ever fell out of grace. If he's smart he'll offer the same deal. Kadyrov can keep his kingdom and won't need to commit anything. The complete lack of reports of battle indicates he's either waiting to see who is the winner, or already got a deal made. Kadyrov has to be bought off, and Wagnar would have known it and planned for it.
