what do u do when yuo're born to play fps? guess there's nothing left to do but play fps. boom headshot
over the past year and a half or so, I have been showing movies on Sunday nights in the yobcord under the barnyfilmz banner. much like BFM's movie nights, i have made a point of showing movies i find culturally relevant, either in good ways or in some cases, bad ways. barnyfilmz has mainly comprised of four major categories and spinoffs:

barnyfilmz presents - the marquee brand, the cadillac of movie showings. these are the films that i find truly good or worthwhile in some way
Worst Of The Worst - inspired by RLM's series of a similar name, this is the often hilariously bad garbage scavenged from thrift shop and media store bins
barnyTV - a newer series where i show various TV shows or series
barnyX - a seldom used banner for eXtreme sports and other such bizness

i am hoping to keep this thread updated with the things that we've watched from now on, sort of like a running forum journal for things i've shown and my thoughts on them. while many of these films i have already seen, some of them are brand new to me so i thought it could be fun to keep a running tally of things we've watched, places we've gone, and people we've met.

here is a list of all the things i've screened that i can remember to start, in no particular order:

barnyfilmz presents:
Ernest Goes To Jail [1990]
Ernest In The Army [1998]
Session 9 [2001]
Rinne [2005] (also released in the US as Reincarnation)
Om Shanti Om [2007]
Fish Story [2009]
Das Leben Der Anderen [2006] (also released in the US as The Lives Of Others)
Goodbye Lenin! [2003]
Die Fetten Jahren Sind Vorbei [2004] (also released in the US as The Edukators)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde [1955]
The Lost Will of Dr. Rant [1951]
The Appointments of Dennis Jennings [1988] (a Steven Wright short film)
One Soldier [1999] (another Steven Wright short film)
Natural Born Killers [1994]

Worst Of The Worst
Hoop Soldiers [2000]
Deep Core [2000]
fearDotcom [2002]

barnyTV
Mind Of Mencia S1E1+S1E2 [2005] (technically the first WOTW showing and it was so loving bad how did this guy get a TV show)
Cunk On Earth [2022] (all 5 episodes)

barnyX
CKY2K [2000]
Tony Hawk's Secret Skatepark Tour [2004]

i feel like i am forgetting some but discord doesn't have an event history so if you remember any more that we've seen, do tell so i can update the list.

tonight we watched fearDotcom which was an incredibly bad attempt at an American version of The Grudge. the plot involved a spooky killer ghost snuff film website that kills anyone who visits it within 48 hours, killing them with whatever their worst fear is. the plot was incredibly stupid as-is but the explanations for why any of this was happening to begin with were beyond comprehension. halfway through the film all of a sudden one of the main characters reveals the antagonist with a throwaway line of dialogue, simply hand-waving it away by saying "he's the doctor, he's a skeleton in my closet" before we are whisked away to a completely unrelated scene.

roger ebert was quoted as saying "Strange, how good fearDotcom is, and how bad". and quite frankly, I can't seem to find the good that Ebert managed to squeeze out of it. a hyperstylized torture porn flick with way too many scenes featuring a wannabe Hannibal Lecter, droning on endlessly about how the internet can be used for good things but also for bad things. it was a bizarre attempt at taking on the Y2K zeitgeist with a horror twist that falls completely flat and winds up coming across more like a dril tweet than anything resembling coherent social commentary. yuck!

anyway, now that that's out of the way, we have two far more exciting upcoming barnyfilmz presents on the calendar if you are so inclined:

Hero [2002] - April 2
Constantine [2005] - April 9

Feardotcom was amazingly bad. Like bad enough that I texted my dad to tell him it was bad and he should watch it. So he did and now he's considering posting about how bad it was. Lol.

I enjoyed the gently caress out of watching Cunk on Earth though. Philomena Cunk is the foremost television presenter on history and frankly we could all learn from her.

I've watched all of Cunk on Earth twice and I can see myself doing it a third time. I rlly wish it was something I could share w/ my parents but episode 2 is very hilarious yet unapologetically blasphemous. that's how my parents perceive most satire
