Is Pickleball just the old Smashball... a big paddle and a squishy ball that doesn't travel far?

DeSantis is scheduled to be at this gun store on Thursday to push his book. EDIT: Snipped the link because it's from a right-wing shithead organization. ATF raided a big gun store called Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, GA. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-florida-blueprint-ft-special-guest-gov-ron-desantis-in-cobb-county-tickets-591435047147 code:

Has McConnell made any appearances since he was released from the hospital? It's been like two weeks.

Fetterman appears to be in fine fettle. This seems newsworthy to me since there's so much talk right now about elected officials being unable to fulfill their responsibilities, and alot of that has been directed at Fetterman due to his medical problems. https://twitter.com/JohnFetterman/status/1648456948004827137?s=20 Dick Trauma fucked around with this message at 21:43 on Apr 19, 2023 |

Another Republican official has both been found guilty of being a horrible shitbag while also avoiding any accountability for his acts. https://twitter.com/NC5PhilWilliams/status/1649096263760228352?s=20 quote:A member of GOP leadership in the Tennessee House of Representatives was recently found guilty of sexually harassing at least one legislative intern, likely two, by an ethics subcommittee acting in secret, NewsChannel 5 Investigates has learned. quote:Despite accusations of sometimes extremely vulgar comments and other inappropriate advances, Republicans did not remove the 39-year-old East Tennessee lawmaker from his leadership position nor from his committee assignments. quote:But a four-member ethics subcommittee, composed of two Republicans and two Democrats, came to a different conclusion, according to a memorandum dated March 29 that was sent to House Speaker Cameron Sexton. quote:On March 15, the victim recalls, she went to his apartment to return a wrench that she had borrowed.

It appears that Tucker Carlson got canned. I can't understand why Fox would give the boot to their money-printing machine. https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1650523507795566592?s=20 https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/1650522522578739202?s=20 https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1650523748326309888?s=20

I guess we'll see if the time slot is the most important factor in creating an iconic Fox hatemonger. If it could do it for Carlson it can probably work for anyone they stuck in front of the camera at that time.

Who shoulders the cost of responding to the suit? Because of the nature of the claim is it against "Governor DeSantis"? Wondering if the state in general has to pay, or the office of the Governor, or...?

Not sure if anyone else has seen this but it's raw footage from Jan 6 released yesterday that shows that the person who was operating the camera feed that day did a good job trying to capture the face of everyone who was in the room. The vibe is so goddamn weird, like a big city bus terminal late at night after a sporting event. Cops flood in at the 35 minute mark and bring the torpid event to an end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCL4TyqbNZw

How many years would it be before nuclear power plants could provide a meaningful percentage of what we get from coal and natural gas? I was under the impression that even if a program was approved today it would be decades before enough plants would be online to make a dent. Not that we should avoid doing it because of the length of time for implementation, but that someone like me would probably be dead before nuclear power generation can take over from the dirtier methods.

I've always rented and I've been tracking my rent for a long time. From Fall 2000 to the most recent increase this month it's gone up 101%. Is that in line with the cost of living changes over that length of time?

License plate readers are being used by Sheriffs in states where abortion is legal to aid in the prosecution of residents of states where it's illegal. They're doing this even in states where it's illegal to share the information. https://twitter.com/brat2381/status/1676986194012540930?s=20 https://news.yahoo.com/sacramento-sheriff-sharing-license-plate-133000119.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=tw&tsrc=twtr quote:According to documents that the Sheriff’s Office provided EFF through a public records request, it has shared license plate reader data with law enforcement agencies in states that have passed laws banning abortion, including Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas. quote:The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office isn’t the only one sharing that data; in May, EFF released a report showing that 71 law enforcement agencies in 22 California counties — including Sacramento County — were sharing such data. The practice is in violation of a 2015 law that states “a (California law enforcement) agency shall not sell, share, or transfer ALPR information, except to another (California law enforcement) agency, and only as otherwise permitted by law.”

It sounds bad to me, particularly this attack against the EFF that's right out of the current right-wing extremist playbook. quote:The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to The Bee’s request for comment by deadline. On Wednesday, after this story published, Cooper took to Twitter to accuse the EFF of “protecting child molesters, fentanyl traffickers, rapists and murderers.”
