Wait what? Doesn't Endeavor own a ton of random poo poo, why would them buying WWE specifically somehow directly merge it with UFC? Like even UFC is technically a double subsidiary because there's Zuffa in between (not that this detail is meaningful in any practical sense). That part sounds like a misunderstanding.

Zuffa hasn't existed meaningfully in years - that was the Fertitias. Endeavor is the parent company.

Have he and Dana ever had any known beef?

I recall Dana over the years, especially earlier, has talked poo poo about pro wrestling generally. Also he and Vince have been on opposite sides of the Brock bidding wars too.

So nothing specific that I can think of, not like vs. Bob Arum, but just general Dana making GBS threads on everything.

Haven't been following UFC for long, but based on how things went with Paddy and O'Malley, I find it hard to believe Masvidal is going to lose by decision. Is Dana favorites getting favorable judging rarer than it's seemed so far?

Masvidal is 39 and he has made a career out of losing by decision.

We need to come up with equivalent terms for "Franklinweight" for every weight semiclass.

HW/LhW - Cormierweight?
LhW/MW - Franklinweight.
MW/WW - Whittakerweight?
WW/LW - Masvidalweight? Nateweight?
LW/FW - Poirierweight?
FW/BW - Aldoweight?
BW/FlW - Linekerweight?

Either way they're both Nateweight(?)s too

Is it against the rules for a guy to go into a fight extremely well moisturized? I know they can’t go in with substances on them, but I didn’t know about lotion that comes out as you sweat.

Yeah. If they do the paper test and find grease I don't think they'll ask when the lotion went on.

Not that I've seen a ref do the paper test since Marquardt-Palhares.

Is there an objective way to measure how lotioned a fighter is? I feel that if we don't draw a line in the sand, we are only inviting greasier fighters to take part in the sport.

Has a ref ever stopped a fight and demanded a fighter use an alcohol-based body wash in order to dry out their skin?

The actual procedure is, I'm not kidding, that the ref wipes down the fighter with a paper and sees if it dries normal or as your window to DQ. I can't remember if it's with a paper towel or a special test strip that they're supposed to keep around but probably never do.

I figured someone would like a physical copy if UFC starts to gently caress people on prices or you need to cancel a sub or something. gently caress me for trying to be thoughtful I guess. I'll gently caress off again now.

Lots of his fight cancellations were not his fault but many were. Like, he had far more "not his fault" cancellations than most fighters have total cancellations for all reasons in their whole UFC careers. And many of the ones that were his fault were the kind where you can't blame him for withdrawal, like his kid's health

I kind of feel that an illegal blow thrown with good intentions, isn't illegal? I'm thinking of jon Jones spinning elbow he landed on Bonnar, which hit Stephen square in the back of the head

Intentions are the difference between a DQ and an NC in the event that an illegal strike leads to a finish.

There are some arcane guidelines on back of the head strikes where they only count as a foul if you're hitting an essentially immobilized opponent. If you throw a strike at distance at a moving opponent and it hits the back of the head, well there's not much that can ben done about that. If you have inside wrist on a turtling opponent....

Fight circus is the only legitimate mma promotion in the world. Even despite the skeezy porno stuff. Especially because of the skeezy porno stuff. Why yes I want to see two strawweights fight the kebab man from down the street.

You know, I can't now recall anyone being badly hurt or knocked out in a fight circus match. I'm sure there have been a couple because it's fighting, but most of the weird matches end with all participants laughing and kinda being embarrassed that they participated.

watching advice: save yourself half an hour, skip the heavyweight fights

one of those fights the collier one is imo one of the worst fights in UFC history. It had no redeeming qualities. It fails in every single metric you can use for judging individual or pair performances. The only reason it won't go on any all-time lists is that it's also a completely forgettable fight.
