that's a fair objection to my imprecise language. carceral slavery is of course a thing, and needs its own category for reparations. it would of course be paid out by irish-americans.

yeah, from what i can tell, large winnings appears to reduce, then increase, the risk of bankruptcy in the period immediately after winning, the former cancelling out the latter. and for small winnings, the opposite occurs, though the final result is the same. which would seem to imply to me that it actually reduces the risk of bankruptcy, if you make the assumptions that lottery winners belong to a class of people already more vulnerable to bankruptcy - which doesn't seem like a stretch?

but yeah, at most it'd be an argument in favor of reparations being a monthly payment people can plan around, rather than a single lump sum.

There was easily a measurable harm done to people which has generational impact and it is within the power of the state to offer reparations in one form or another and I support that.
