I feel like this was WAY more common in the 90s, but there was a time when families didn't know where to put the desktop Computer. Often times, for whatever reason, it ended up in the kitchen. We had a kitchen setup for a while before my dad finally relented his Guitar Room (room he would play guitar in at night in the dark) as a general Kidz Zone. Consoles, pc, etc, all in there.

I can't even fully explain why I feel like the kitchen computer is the most cursed, I just feel like if you ever see a video from that perspective it's never good

My Dad has had this insane setup since I was 9 or so where he has caster wheels attached to lumber, a huge loving stone on this, the tower on the stone, some metal pipes attached to the lumber base, a second piece of lumber on top, and the monitor on the upper shelf so he can wheel the computer in and out and play it while sitting on the sofa. He's still got it, basically unchanged, 20 years later.

I don’t think we ever had kitchen computers but we had it in the dining room in multiple houses. I remember playing a lot of Quake 3 and various half-life mods like Sven coop whilst the rest of my family ate dinner. Eventually it got moved to the basement which was way more convenient for looking at pictures of tits

always had the home PC in the study before it became obsolete but when i got my first laptop in high school my dad initially made me keep it in the living room/dining room at all times but i think he got tired of me yelling at TF2 and GMod and stopped caring after several months

We didn't get our first computer until I was in high school and it was in the dining area. I remember an incident where my step-brother got kicked out of the house (he was just visiting) for something like stealing or smoking weed but I clearly remember the conversation including that my step-brother also got the computer "infected with porn" because it had one of those porn pop up viruses and to this day I am 99.9% sure that was actually a result of me downloading music from limewire but I just went ahead and let him eat that one.

You people are loving demented, my dad kept the computer at the guest room

we had ours in the living room, diametrically opposite the tv screen so my parents could just turn around on the couch and see what I was doing. Course, this setup also meant that the chair would block the passage into the hallway and they eventually got so fed up with me being on the computer and blocking the way they just moved the PC into my room.

this actually reminded me that the family room was the last refuge of our home PC before i got my laptop, except it was literally right next to the T.V. so zero privacy at all. dark times

my mum insisted on having the pc in the living room and would get insanely frustrated at me constantly playing ns clan matches and constantly talking to my team while they tried to watch tv/movies. she never relented though which seems like it was just a situation that punished everyone for like 10 solid years before i was old enough to move everything to my bedroom without pushback. my dad kept his computer in a study like a regular person
