maybe it's just me but twitter dsmart just isn't the same as forums or usenet dsmart. twitter main characters feel very boring and lack luster because twitter is mostly very boring. plus its just hard for anyone to main character on twitter when everyone else is also competing for the same syndrome to shove as many DSM V listings into their cerebral cortex as possible.

i dont really follow musk mock thread but lol did he really get rid of PMs??

that's incredible. after Reddit burns itself up chasing IPO dragon, Ttwitter enshittifies into a molten sewer, and Discord inevitably destroys itself with all the Meta middle managers, the internet will finally be at peace and we shall all return to ezboards and IRC like God intended

pretty much all cosmetic surgery or chemical treatment is to help with mild to severe dysphoria and could be seen as gender affirming.

hair plugs, HGH, steroids, mole removal, invisalign etc. Even exercising for the look instead of health. People are all trying to make their bodies appear how they want to be presented.

Getting a haircut is gender affirming body modification.

Elon's jawline was cosmetically enhanced and that was gender affirming

etc
yes and no

in a lacanian framework dysphoria is the discrepancy that develops when someone encounters themselves in the mirror stage, that is, they see themselves as a unified self, versus an imaginary or fictional self. and then a lifetime spent reconciling the differences.

Then there is the Symbolic order of things: the shared meanings, cultural contexts, and social norms that influence people's perceptions about themselves and the others. humans are also beings that are shaped by desires and overwhelming desire to see themselves as being to be desired by Others. When someone posts a HDR-enhanced selfie on the beach of Ibiza with a $20 margarita followed by some hashtags to Facebook or Twitter, they do this because they have seen themselves to be a subject of desire and have desired other people's experiences, so by putting that out there they're implicitly wanting to be desired they way they have coveted the others.

So dysphoria can further be seen in two ways: not just the discrepancy between the mirror stage of the actualized self versus the idealized self, but also (or alternatively) the discrepancy of the actualized self to the symbolic order of wanting to be desired. sometimes both, sometimes one.

so when someone gets square-jaw surgery or hair plugs, the dysphoria they're resolving is the desire to be desired by the Other in the symbolic order against their actualized 'I'. gender dysphoria can include both aspects, but I think more typically what something like taking spiro is resolving is the discrepancy between the actualized mirror-self versus the idealized self.

idk if that makes sense

Netflix saw the four single largest days for new U.S. subscriptions since at least 2019 after it announced on May 23 it would no longer permit password sharing between households, according to data from analytics firm Antenna, which uses third-party sources to collect consumer information with permission.
Average daily sign-ups hit 73,000 from May 24 to May 28, a 102% increase from the daily average during the previous 60 days.
The company had nearly 100,000 new subscribers on May 26 and 27, shattering the record high for any day since Antenna began tracking data in 2019, including the previous high during the start of Covid-19, when daily sign-ups peaked at under 90,000.
Netflix stock has risen almost 15% during the two and a half weeks since its password sharing crackdown, and was up 4% pre-market on Friday.

yeah it was a reasonablly good idea when you're a plucky little startup with 1 factory and buying a bunch of cheap 18650 batteries from china and sticking them together in parallel is cheap enough... in 2010

not so in 2024 lol

all the china EVs have like cool lifepo4 which is vastly better than lithium-ion. i've got a portable hefty-but-huge-charge electric battery pack with LiFepo4 and it's great

Not joking but the number of people I know in Greece with cancer or other major health issue appearing is through the roof. A couple of my wife’s friends, some cousins, my MIL all with either breast or other cancer diagnosed in the last year. The only good news is the care won’t bankrupt them like it would here.
do they just eat more seafood than everyone else? dont really see why greece would be seeing rising en masse health problems notably any different than italy/spain/turkey/croatia/etc
