When I saw The Force Awakens, the whole theater was dead silent and you could hear a pin drop when Ben kills Han. Then when Chewbacca “dies” in the sequel nobody seemed to care. I do enjoy the suggestion by a goon in the last Star Wars thread that Rian Johnson purposely answered all the lingering questions with “lol who cares!!” Who is Snoke? lol who cares he’s dead now!

They should reboot the sequels and rewrite em to not be rear end but keep some of the important plot beats (because of their tie in poo poo) altogether personally I'd have done this before you took your popular shows and start linking them into the palply returned some how

Yeah this is not a hard decision to make. For every person laughing at this decision there are probably five tickets being sold for the movie even as we speak. Quality basically does not matter for huge IPs beyond something really good occasionally bumping a movie's value or something legendarily bad sometimes mildly hindering its overall profits. Or I guess preventing a cinematic universe from starting at all, ala Universal Monsters Universe University, but that is not a concern here

It's not just that though. There are two more in the works (plus one from tatia waikiki that we still know nothing about) and they're all going to be decades/centuries/millennia apart from each other. The Marvel formula is to keep building on top of each project towards something bigger, right? Even though lots of disparate things happen, they're all supposed to be taking place at the same time so there can eventually be a team-up. Having three different movies all in different eras, plus the shows that all aren't in the same eras either, is a strategy that I don't get. Introducing new settings is difficult, and I'm not seeing how they expect most people to get familiar with or care about the new distant prequel timelines while also now continuing to build into the latest timeline and everywhere in between.
