Burns is a massive police/military night supporter. But he also rescues animals and supports shelters. So mixed bag.

Pavelski I dont know anything about other than his team mates have never once had a bad thing to say about him. Probably just a genuinely nice dude like Luongo.

Honestly, "this person supports groups that actively murder marginalized groups, but they're okay with saving animals so it's a mixed bag" is not a great take.

Animal rescue and shelters are massively important, but equalizing that with the idea that it's equivalent to supporting groups that actively harm marginalized people is maybe something I would recommend reflecting on.

That’s a super good point and true, but every time it comes up on athletes and ethics, it’s a downward spiral because the majority of NHL hockey players have horrible opinions.

Leafs lines looking as expected

https://twitter.com/koshtorontosun/status/1647629738159009793?s=20

I’d prefer to swap Marner and Nylander cause Bunting/Matthews/Marner was actually worse than when Willy was up there this year and that line got basically cancelled out by Tampa exactly one year ago, feels like going back to the well based on comfort over results.

Also having both Schenn and Holl in the starting D is an abomination, Tampa can just chip the puck into the right corner and the Leafs will get hemmed 2/3rds of the time which seems bad. Unfortunately Liljegren got sad about Sandin and Engvall going and played like poo poo down the stretch so this has been telegraphed for a while.

Last season in Arizona, his ATOI was 16:41. In Vegas, it's 12:49.

I hope he signs one more year somewhere to hit 1000 points, but I have a feeling that this may be his last season.

It was discussed earlier, the "ranked 7th in the NHL" was among players with over 1500 face-offs this season, of which there are only 7.

using it as a good example is tongue in cheek

But have you seen the poo poo people post on social media? It's hard for me to write that off as a joke unless the rest of the tweet is also cherry picking ridiculous stats. Which I can't, because it's included in an article for nhl.com full of stats https://www.nhl.com/avalanche/news/colorado-avalanche-2022-23-regular-season-by-the-numbers/c-343575520

quote:

48.8 FOW%
J.T. Compher was exceptional in the faceoff circle this season, where the centerman ranked seventh in the entirety of the NHL in faceoff wins with a percentage of 48.8%. Compher took a grand total of 1,665 draws, won 813 of them and lost 852 of them.

In the weeks to come, the city’s chattering classes will be consumed with handicapping who’ll be editor-in-chief of New York magazine after Henry Kravis and Primedia get through selling it.

Nobody was talking officially last week, pending a deal as final bids arrived Thursday. The consensus is the highest offer is for about $55 million – coming from a motley team of millionaires and billionaires around Mort Zuckerman.

The coalition includes: Zuckerman, the owner of the Daily News and U.S. News & World Report; billionaire financier Nelson Peltz; mysterious money manager Jeffrey Epstein; ad executive Donny Deutsch, Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein; and non-cash contributors Michael Wolff of New York magazine and possibly Jim Dolan, CEO of Cablevision.
