Also the execs in question donate a ton to politicians so anything that would help them out from that angle will easily die in committee or get vetoed. You can't VOTE your way out of this.

I hope there is something more concrete there otherwise all the strike did was give the writers a slightly nicer severance package for the next few years as AI eliminates the industry

Yep, I had that back in the day and I basically agree with that -- my personal shark jumping moment was Maude dying, which is mid season 11. There are a few classic episodes after that though in the next few seasons but that is the main pivot point from good to bad imho. Also notable that the episode aired a couple months into 2000, which is another good cutoff point (the Simpsons is a 90's show first and foremost).

Gonna point out that beyond just writers and actors AI has the potential to put like 90% of everyone out of work (as the execs so gloat) and places like OpenAI literally have in their mission statement to automate all economically valuable work (in those words) so if they don't put in a blow against AI right now they are not going to get another chance

Yeah Disney blatantly milking Star Wars and Marvel for all its worth with 2 or 3 high profile releases a year along with god knows how many shows is wearing everyone's patience thin. I used to be a huge Star Wars fan but man how they have massacred my boy... you can't have rebels versus the empire when the ones making it are the grand moffs
